In his weekly column, Cringely (http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20060119.html) writes about historical precidence for wartime electronic eavesdropping. (I've just started reading the column, myself.)

I've read several of his previous columns. He mostly writes about technology (not politics), and I was referred to this column by a source that says it's not political, but simply presents some facts that he thinks the public isn't aware of.

OK, I've read it. Not a whole lot I didn't already know, but there was some.

actually Sarge, the title is pretty apt. The article goes on to tell how we gathered phone intel on hitlers calls. I know what you probably figured the title meant, but I dont think he ever went there.

Was over all a boring article, but like larry I also thought some of it was interesting.

I'll probably go back and read it. With a title like that though, I initially thought it was Choms' weeky addition to the Chomunist Manifesto
