Are we allowed to have 2 head coaches? We could pay (if not already) Al Saunders and GW HC salaries and list them sort of the same as they are listed now. For example, Head Coach - Offense for Al Saunders and Head Coach - Defense for Gregg Williams. Could this work?

If it did, it would be hilariously unconventional. So I think probably not.

If that does indeed happen, I say we wait until Jon Gruden gets out of his contract at Tampa Bay and name him Assistant Head Coach-Angry Guy Who Looks Like A Doll From A Horror Movie.
And while we're on this spree, let's pick up Keyshawn Johnson as Associate Head Coach-Jackassery.

Wouldn't that make this a partnership? I do think it would work but, as Warhead said, you do need someone overseeing everything. Plus I will just jump in as the Defensive Coordinator--with GW overseeing me I am sure I could be money!
....and END Sarcasm!

How do you figure that would work? Sanders is offense, Williams defense... they are both key where they are... your saying that our head coach would be in charge of the defense? doesn't seem likely to me... someone would change positions or get the boot etc

we essentially did this 3 seasons ago, during Spurriers first year. Spurrier was the head coach, and coached the offense, while Marvin Lewis was essentially given full reign of the defense. Only in his 2nd year did Spurrier actually place an o-coordinator.
I doubt though that if/when Williams becomes head coach, Al Saunders would stick around, he may be using the job as a stepping stone as it is.

There always needs to be one guy with the final say. The team needs to know who to follow and who is the face of the team.

This has been done before and doesnt' work. We did it in 1970. Of course, this was also pretty close to the actuall coaching structure under Gibbs (although Gibbs is still the final authority).

Uhhh...no
When Coach Gibbs retires this is what im hoping our special teams, defensive, offensive and head coaching staff will look like.
Head Coach: (defensive coordinator)Gregg Williams- Will make a great head coach. He is a will let his coaches do what they need without his help unlike in buffallo(he said so). Then he has learned under Joe Gibbs what kind of players you need ect... Has a rich owner who will keep his defence together let alone his team so he only has to work on getting the offence.
Offensive Coordinator: (offensive coordinator) Al Saunders- Best in the buisness as an Offensive Coord, has had the best offence two seasons in a row at kansas city.
Defensive Coordinator: John Gray-(secondary coach) Good Defensive Coordinator. Uses the pressure defence like Gregg Williams, was the number two defence at 2004 ahead of the redskins who were at number 3. The only reason his defence was one of the worst in the league this season was becuase of injuries in buffalo.
Special Teams Coordinator (special teams coord) Danny Smith- I think he knows what hes doing. He did a good job this year too.
There they are :D

Actually it is not in his contract all contracts have to be reviewed by the league oficce which is why there is a 1 million dollar payout if he is still on the roster if a new head coach is named. It does not directly name him the next head coach

anyone have a link to where it says it is in Williams contract to take over hear coach after Gibbs?

Maybe this deserves another thread.
However, I keep hearing that the HC deal is in GW's contract. Can anyone give me a source on this? Because I can't imagine this is actually true. That would just be a scandal waiting to happen. Using the Detroit Lions as our example we know that if you promise the job to someone before the interview process you're going to get in trouble.
As far as the thread question goes. I can't imagine that it would be illegal, but I highly doubt we would do it. I would love it though, because I'm a big fan of anamolies.

Its not that I want him to retire, its like what the poster above me said, its going to happen and its a good idea to plan ahead. Or in our cause, come up with scenarios, as wild as they can be.

So is dying but there isn't 50 threads a week about it
