I know there is a lot of talk about the salary cap, and a lot of opinions. But since I don't understand the workings of it all that well I posted this question. Realistically, how big of a challege will it be for the Skins to manuever under the cap so that they can add who they want. If I am not mistaken I have seen it listed that they will be about 18 million over. That seems pretty steep. At least it isn't as bad as Oakland and Denver...who are projected 30 million over.

not that bad of a situation

just gotta pro-rate some signing bonus and cut some bench riders.

along with re-doing some contracts.

no major players will be lost

Much more difficult than in recent years. We can only spread bonuses over 4 years and there is a special 30% rule that says salaries cannot increase by more than 30%. Therefore it is much harder to do simple restructures unless players take significant paycuts in future years. There are 6-8 teams that will have a very hard time getting under the cap and being able to sign FA. We are one of them. I've been saying for a while that THE most important thing for our offseason is a new CBA.

No since in worrying about it until the new CBA is negotiated. Otherwise there is NO cap '07

It's too early to say what will happen. But expect guys like Harris, Bowen, Hall and *eep* Arrington to be casualties.

The salary cap is the ONLY thing keeping Dan Snyder from buying the Arizona Cardinals as our practice squad. If Danial Snyder were to grow to the size of a skyscraper and run amuck in downtown Tokyo...... you better believe the only thing stopping him is the Salary Cap.
