View Full Version : If only THEY are right, we could get Cromartie

If only the Undergraduate Advisory Panel is correct in that Anotonio Cromartie is projected as a 3rd or 4th rounder. Wow! Of course, most draft boards have him going in the first or second rounds (like nfldraftcountdown.com). Rightly so, he is going to be a stud in the NFL!

Admittedly, I am an FSU homer, but dang, if somehow he is available at pick #53, he will be THE BEST defensive (and maybe all-around) player available. I know we need a speedy DE, but he would be hard to pass up.

Okay, I'm awake now, back to reality. Good luck Cro.

You can never have too many good corners. If he can return kicks, we might find room for him.

Depends on his knee, he may have lost something with that ACL injury and that's probaly why he didn't go back to school.

He would be a great pickup with that speed and that size. Highly doubt he will there when it's our turn, but you never know.

He was on his way to being a special player before the knee injury. If he is in fact healthy I would love to see the skins take him with the 53rd pick. I think it would be a steal.

I think at this stage of the game we have to go with either Tapp or one of the receivers still available which should be quite a few to pick from. This draft is weak on receivers with no real stud at the position coming out. But I do think that there are several decent #2 guys that should still be available when we pick, but I say if Tapp is there we get him.

I'd be wary of overly tall corners. Their 40 times are not necessarily the result of quickness, but could be the result of having long legs. General awareness of what the offense is doing and change of direction burst is more important than straight line speed. And with a tall corner coming off of an ACL, change of direction is a huge concern. This kid's draft status will depend largely on how well he does at the combine.

We should keep an eye on him at the combine to see how he does in agility drills and how strong his knee really is. If he's healthy and still available he could be a good pickup for our secondary but it says in that interview his favorite team was the Cowboys. I'm not too sure about that part...

No, he didn't go back to school because his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and he decided he need to help his family out financially. If he would have stayed he would have been a top 5 pick next year.

Sure the combine matters. Frankly, I hope their are doubters that allow him to fall to us. You don't run a 4.39 (or 4.4 or 4.5) on grass because of your long legs, you have to have to be quick and agilie as well.

He will have to demonstrate his change of direction ability, which is to be expected.

He returned kickoffs, and very well, at FSU. He's not really a PR because of his size. Really, whichever team drafts him will be playing him very soon...we won't have to find room for him, he will make room for himself right opposite right behind Springs and Rogers. Believe it! ;)

Not a Gibbs type player.

We don't need any Seminoles.

Cromartie has huge potential, however I dont see him in a Skins uni...he will go 2nd-3rd round.

I would rather have Daryl Tapp as our #53 pick.

But, I am not that familiar with him, I'll check him out.

I don't see how so many people can call the guy a stud or a steal when he is coming out early despite the fact that he hasn't played ball in over a year and recently suffered a very serious injury. Yes he is big and he is athletic. He is not, however, mildly experienced. This isn't the NBA, you can't select projects early on in the NFL. Players have to develop in college and this guy hasn't yet.

never heard of him. thanks for the heads up, I will keep an eye on him now through the combine and pro day. I wouldn't mind us getting him but not in the 2nd round, he seems too much of a project to pick that high

Good one, how about you actually think about what u just said...

Cromartie has never done anything wrong and too bunch all FSU players into a negative category like that is ignorant.

I guess we wouldn't ever take warrick dunn or derrick brooks either??

Or what about superbowl MVP (tampa bay) Dexter Jackson?

Back to topic

I don't see us picking a corner in the second round but I would love to have him because if he has fully recovered (we'll see at the combine) he's gonna be special. He has the speed and size to be a great corner. He would have easily been a top 10 pick had he played this year.

He is no more a project than any other CB coming in to the NFL, but he is going to be far less than many others. With Carlos Rogers and Shawn Springs starting, he doesn't have to come in and start right away, but he will be able to play some right away (assuming his knee checks out by NFL docs - if not we wouldn't take him anyway). Enough from me... he's not going to be there at our first pick.

this guys is gonna be a monster. he will probably end up a first rounder when he runs a sub 4.4 40 yard dash. apparently he recently ran a 4.39 on grass and plans to run lower at the combine. no way he makes it to our pick.
