You know what, when I read this title I was like "will allen hahaha no way," but, now that I think about it, maybe we should. Any D coordinator that puts a corner 1on1 against santana all day long must be an idiot. Allen was a first round pick and clearly has some level of talent, maybe under GW he could find a rebirth. I'm not satisfied with our CB depth at the moment, he might be a steal if we can get him cheap.

The guy to ask about this is Tom.
If I recall he has very unflattering things to say about Allen.
My own impressions are largely formed by the abuse Santana dealt him. Of course, I remember Walt Harris getting abuse as well so I don't know WTF to think.

he would be light years better than walt harris... but he is looking for starters money and not 3rd corner money

I think we should, I didn't really see him get burnt too bad other than when he played us, so with Santana on our team, he should be fine.

If you don't think Will Allen is better than Harris, you need to lay off the homer weed. Any corner in the league lined up one on one with Santana and a QB worth half a damn is going to get burned, especially on that day. When I watched that game I didn't come away with the feeling that Will Allen screwed up, I came away with the feeling that Santana was just flat out amazing in that game. Could have been Dayl Green in his prime, and he's getting toasted in that situation. So, yeah, I'm all for Will Allen if he doesn't break the bank.

Maybe as competition for nickeback---obviously not #1 corner material by far. He might get beat out by Jimoh or Morton.

my thoughts exactly... he might as well forget about the 1st string money cause hes 2nd or 3rd at best. im thinkin we sign him to a 2year (or so deal) if he makes it through camp let him compete with carlos rogers for the #2 spot and gice walt harris the #4 (if hes even here) id say that would be a pretty good lineup
#1.Shawn Springs #2.Will Allen #3.Carlos Rogers #4.Walt Harris
not an allstar group but one to be respected.
And remember there is only one Santana Moss! Will Allen should be happy to come here so he wont get whooped on by Santana!

Signed for cheap from a division rival might not be a bad idea. With a superior coaching staff, we'd have someone young to add to our very poor depth at CB. And if he doesn't work out he could easily be released for cheap without harming the cap. Think about what we could get out of him in the future instead of what he's already done. We've passed on and let go of a lot of players we thought we garbage and the next thing you know they're in the pro bowl.

As a nickel he won'y play against Santana caliber players and the reason why Walt Harris kept on getting beat is because of his lack of speed and Will Allen sure does have that lets forget the Redskins and Giants and focus on what he could do at the Nickel Position and possibly as insurance

If he comes cheap(cue vet minimum plus incentives ;))I wouldn't mind him.
He got smoked by Santana but any CB would 1 on 1.
Springs, Rogers, Allen, Harris would be an excellent tandem of CBs, giving us great starters and great depth.

Why do people in this thread seem to actually believe Moss was the only reciever to toast Allen? Come on people! Watch some more games besides Skins games. Allen gets burned regularly, and with the ends that the Giants have on defense, there is no way why he should be so bad when the defense gets consistent pressure on the quarterback.
Just say no.

Ken Palmer, of the New York Post, reports the New York Giants have already engaged in contract discussions with CB Will Allen. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March. While no numbers have yet been discussed, a team source told The Post that discussions have been held and that ultimately the team wants Allen back in the fold.

This is disappointing news for the Redskins. I was looking forward to seeing Santana burn him for another 3 TD's next season. O well, hopefully he will sign with someone else in the division or with another one of our opponents.

It is interesting how out of convenience, you only look at the last game they played. Do you guys remember what Moss did when they played at Giants Stadium? He had 4 catches for 34 yards and a fumble.

With all due respct Tom, the last game had a faaaar heavier weight on it. Skins lose that 2nd game? Season over! Not only did Moss (& the Skins for that matter) rebound, but they put up a fine offensive performance. Even the homerest of homers can't say anything otherwise. I think Portis only had 9 yards rushing in the 1st game. He bounced back too. It wasn't just Moss.

If you look at the Giants defense after losing all three of their starting LB'ers, every one they played were putting up huge numbers against them and scoring a lot of points. Say it is an excuse all you want but when you lose guys like Pierce and Emmons, your defense is going to suffer. Not to mention the fact that Tim Lewis thought for some dumb reason that Will Allen, alone on an island with Moss all day was a good idea. I don't know too mahy CB's who could cover Moss one on one.
And yes, I do want the Giants to resign Allen. His biggest problem is that he can't make the interception when he has the chance. He is actually a good cover corner.

tom...we lost peirce first and a backup took over his spot AND DID BETTER!
then we lost Lavar Arrington for like 5 weeks and we still stayed productive. even with that big cheeto that took over his spot!
Holdman--"coach they just run around me...whats going on?
Gibbs--"well warrick, football include running. you cant just sit there and expect to tackle anyone."
Holdman--"......omg......"

What a great post. What Tom is saying is they lost their whole starting linebacking core and it made the rest of the defense suffer. We didnt go through that.

Granted....The NYG LB's were hurt. But that dosen't excuse the Giants d-line and CB play in that game. Antonio Pierce wasn't going to be responsible for S. Moss any how. It was totally up to the DB's or pass rush to eliminate the time a QB had. And as far as I know, both Osi, and Strahan played.
