As many of you know, mark brunell is not getting any young and campbell is in the wings. if however the coaches are impressed with campbell, we fans need to prepare not be as good, as many of us think. i mean we would be lucky to become better off like in the big ben situation. i just hope the coaches can implant plans with campbell to get him enough playmakers around him that we can make a run.

My prediction:

What happened to Patrick Ramsey will happen to Mark Brunell, just not on the first day. Mark B is bound to get injured this year, he is so old and not mobile, it will happen, almost guarenteed. And Campbell will step in. Unless Jason is AWEFUL or brunell is playing better than he did last season (Highly doubtful) then they will probably stick with him just like Brady won the spot from Bledsoe.

I think Brunell will start the season, but I do believe Campbell will play a bit this year.

That's why the Skins need a veteran backup. If Brunell gets knocked out and Campbell proves to be not quite ready, you'd better have somebody serviceable back there. You'd hate to be waiver wire shopping after week one.

I touched on this subject a little after the playoffs.....and my take really hasn't changed too much. I think Campbell will take the job from Brunnel (if not in camp, then shortly thereafter). However, I do not see this as a reason to regress.

Brunell was not winning games for us this year (aside from the 1st Dallas game). Anyone who tries to tell me Brunell was making big plays and that is why we were winning down the stretch......well, I would have to  in his/her face. It is real simple........he quit turning the ball over. Period. He protected the ball, we ran effectively and played top 5 defense. That is why we were successful at the end of the year and that is why Campbell could very easily step in and be just as successful. He will be less likely to make mistakes than most young QBs bc the game will not be his to win.....merely to protect. The days of the run and shoot are over here in DC. We run the ball and play great D. With this to fall back on, Campbell should do quite well.

BUT - as for the comment about landing a servicable backup (assuming Ramsey is gone) -- I totally agree. Anyone see Tim Hasselbeck lately? How does he feel about coming back ? :)

Cambels last year at LSU showed me 2 things about him. He's smart and for the most part has good decision making abilities. I think the possibility of him starting this year at some point is a possibility but it's going to take mark b. struggling really bad for coach to pull him. I also think that dilfer might be someone that coach would look at.

I think hes thinking about the possibility of not trading Ramsey :-P The teams interested might not be willing to give up for him, though Minnesota is now a player in the market.

I agree that we'll have to be patient w/ JC while he's on his learning curve. Just be prepared to post this again cuz you know folks are going to call for his head at the first mistake he makes.

I get the feeling gibbs will give brunell a few games and if we dont win our he struggles he will throw in campbell.

i thikn we are able to add a impact wr and a good catching TE, we can run plays for campebll and limit his options to 15-20 passes. i think that royal is not as good as many of us think, and a TE is a great option for a young qb. we need to find a guy ala ernie conwell characterisitics, or the eagles TE. hes seems to be playing well

I think we are all excited about new blood being brought in to the QB position. We all want to see if he can be our franchise QB!

other than McNugget who in the NFCE is more mobile than Brunell? I think Brunell is old, but still more mobile than Bledsoe and Eli.

How many 3rd and longs did Drew convert using his feet?

Campbell will start when he's ready.

If he's not ready he won't start. Brunell Will.

If he's ready he'll start if he gives us a better chance to win. Gibbs will play the player who gives us the best chance to get to the SB.

WHen JC's ready to light it up he will. But not a snap sooner.

yeah i think you are right IMO. We just need him to manage the game for us while limiting his mistakes by surroundong him with solid offensive weapons.

Whoever put's the Redskins in a better position to win, is the one that will be starting.

If Campbell starts, I wouldn't expect any regress because that would mean that he gives us a better chance to win than Boonell, which would mean that he must be pretty good.

If that were their mentality, it would have made sense to start Campbell last season.

Ain't no regressing going on is the bottom line :helmet:

Gibbs has been pretty high on Campbell, expressing he is very confident in JC's abilities. If there is one person whose judgement I trust on QB's, that man is Gibbs. He has won three Superbowls all w/ different QB's. Until time proves me wrong, I think Campbell is a safe bet, and that there really is no cause for alarm. Yet.

I think we can make the playoffs with Campbell.

It's not like this is Alex Smith on San Fran. He's got a top 1500 yard RB, 1500 yard WR, a 700 yard HB/TE, a solid OL, and there should be even more around him, not to mention he'll have sat out the entire previous year and will have knowledge of the offense, AND he has the best coaching staff led by the best HC in the NFL behind him.

i like how he sat for the year, but is al saunders gonna keep gibbs playbook and add a few wrinkles, because then campbell will have to learn a brand new system to have a chance to start this year.
