Season Ticket Holders - Holding or Folding?

I wanted to start a poll on this to see what people really plan on doing. If we are gonna complain and Hold 'em, just let them go or buy them and resell them. Plus this will possibly give the people on the waiting list something to look forward to.

My answer: I'm gonna keep my tickets and plan on having a great time. I'll just spend more time in the parking lot before and after the game watching my DirecTV Sunday Ticket to make up for the $10 hike.

I'm not happy with the increase, but I have to keep my tickets. I look forward to those days too much to get rid of them for an extra $400 or so....

I love the Skins too much to bail. I'm not a Snyder fan. I wasn't a Cooke fan. I was, and always have been, a REDSKINS fan. I waited for many years to get tickets. If the prices go up, I pay. I may not be thrilled about it, but I will pay. Do I think that the increase of $100.00 for parking sucks? Sure do. But you can't put a dollar figure on the joy that tailgating with my friends brings to me, so I will pay that too.

I love going to the games. IMHO anybody who say's they'd rather "sit home and watch it on TV" is either lying, or just doesn't get it. There is no substitute for being at the game, watching action live.

I had the good fortune of scoring tickets to a few games at RFK, many, many years before becoming a season-ticket holder myself. I'm sure the NFC Championship game looked good, on TV, but it was REAL good at the stadium. Let's fast forward to this past season, when we completed the sweep of the Cowboys, and got our revenge on the Giants, that looked pretty sweet on TV, (I record all of the games), let me tell you, it was a hell of a lot sweeter watching from section 431.

FedEx isn't the most modern stadium, nor fan friendly. I don't care. I don't care about the amenities. I don't care about the price of beer and food. I don't care about the long walk up the ramps, or the long walk to my truck. I don't care about the quality of the food, or the crowds, or the lines in the bathroom. But all of the fades in the background, when the whistle blows. It's our House and I love it!

Not having season tickets, and desperately wanting them, I think that it's almost like a celebrity complaining that the cost of his private jet went up. yes, I am 21, but I do pay student loans, rent, utilities (Which are about to go up 72%, thanks BG&E!), etc. Still I have a fund for Redskins tickets when they become available. It's a simple case of supply and demand. Do the prices suck? Yes. But where else are you going to get them? I think that the best judge of value for a ticket is this: Would it be worth the ticket/parking/etc. price in order to see the Redskins crush the Cowboys again? I thought so. To put it bluntly: If you don't want your tickets, then I'll take them. Otherwise, stop complaining.

Sorry, I don't remember every season ticket holder posting in this thread. A lot of people have complained both on the boards and others that I've spoken to outside of the forums. :rolleyes:

Spent 15 years on the waiting list. Paid double, triple, quadruple the face value to get into games at RFK. Hell, I'm still saving money at these prices compared to the RFK days:)

As long as Gibbs is here, I'd pay just about any price. We're close gentlemen, real close...and I wanna be there for this year's NFC Championship Game at FedEx (at face value, not scouring the internet looking for tix).

Dang, I would love to buy someone's season tickets. I usually buy invidividual tickets to games anywhere from 1 to 4 times a year for me and my wife. The only time the Ticket Office calls me is for the Super-Premium Mega-Dollar Suite boxes or something. That or the Obstructed View seats.

Im sad to announce that my family is not renewing them this year. Our seats were awesome too. They were section 127 row 13. The face value jumped from $79 to $108. My father has had season tix since 1992 and its a sad day for our family. With the jump totaling a $600 increase for the season he refuses to pay the hike. At first I was angered but I do understand his point of view.

Usually I go to his place and give him the cash for the upcoming game a few days ahead of time and he hands over those particular tickets (2 for each game). He never went since the team moved to FEDEX...its either I go or we try to find a buyer. But he doesnt want to be out $2,200.00 from now until August. He said that if I could write him a check for the total then we'd stick with them. I dont have $2,200 to spend on tix right now so they are history.

He is an old-timer who is very stingy with his money so I understand this, unfortunatly. One of his issues is that he cant sell nor do either of us want to go to the preseason junk and have to pay $432 for all 4 of the tickets (2 for each game). That is $432 hard earned dollars that MUST be paid and he/we agree that its BS.

....fortunatly for me though...one of my good buddy's has his company tix that are Jack Nicholson seats (2nd row at the 50 yd line)...so i can still enjoy with him on occasion.

If I were facing the same situation - I would sell the tickets as a season package, not game by game. This still keeps the rights to the tickets in your family should you change your mind. Additionally, should the skins make the playoffs, you still have first dibs.

I prefer to continue going to the games and will keep my tickets, but I don't think I would give them up considering how long it took to get off the waiting list in the first place

Im buying and reselling 1/2 the season , like i've been doing for the past 4 yrs. I've been on the waiting list to long (10 yrs ) to totally give up on going to the one thing i look forward to every fall. besides except for that damn P.G. E&A tax that was put on the invoice this year, my hit wasn't to bad . $5 per ticket (4) and $10 for parking , i can't complain

And besides, I just renewed my contract for another 10 years on my Club seats, so I ain't going NOWHERE!!!!!!

I wish i had your deal.....a 40% increase is a scary thought. $30 a ticket is highway robbery....Snyder is a crook. :mad:

I've had season tix in my family since the '50's.......and I can honestly say that this is the first time we have given thought to not renewing some or all of them. I remember when ES Members were guessing a $5 to $10 increase......nobody in their wildest dreams predicted that the Belt Buckle Kid would have enough gall and greed to raise tickets and parking 40%. There is a reason why he is a rich man...but there is also a reason why so many in the community despise him.

does anyone have a detailed breakdown of how exactly all the prices went up? like i know the $79 are now like $109....but does anyone know how much the $44 went up to on the $54 went up to etc....

I'm keeping mine, but I'm going to have to sell some in order to afford to do it. We've had tickets in the family since the first year in DC in 1937. It's now a huge struggle to justify the expense. By the way, in the mid eighties, when I first had the opportunity to go to the games regularly, the tickets were $18 each. This is tough.

Wow, 80 percent plus keeping and less than 20 percent selling. Snyder may have known the market could bear it. When these results are different, expect the team to come out with a quick note saying they've reconsidered and lowered prices. Marketplace rules all.

I was surprised at the 80% keep rate too. I thought more people were mad. And that 80% voted before the new signings were done which surprised me even more. I wonder if the percentage would have gone up if the poll was posted after all the new guys signed.

My dad is the season ticket holder and I believe he is folding, doesn't mean we still won't make it to the games...probably just gunna go to the stadium a little earlier and buy scalpers tix.

I gulped hard twice, then renewed. I have had my tickets since 1979. I do not want to be reminded how much I paid for tickets back in the 1980s! It is more difficult to see all the games, other priorities intrude. I live 4+ hours drive away, but I have been able to sell my tickets to the games I cannot attend (except preseason games). If we have another increase like this next year, I may not renew.

He hiked my 446 row 1 seats $18. He dropped my obstructed view seats $17. My kids sit in the OV seats, and they frequently are able to move. At $69 in 2004, I hated the OV seats. At $32 in 2006, I have to say what the hell.

After my 1st game (2001 vs the Panthers.....Yes, the Lavar INT game!!!!)
I find it very difficult to let go of the tickets now that I've been a season ticket holder for 2 years.
However, next year if the Skins make the playoffs again (or better we can hope) and my tickets jump another $460/season I'm not sure if my family's budget can spare the expense (also with the 2.5-3 hour drive also doesn't help) with all of our bills etc.

Only 1 thing is changing this year for my ticket practices, I will not be giving game tickets to fellow ESers anymore (can't afford it), sorry folks :(
