Great news. He's about done. Don't know why anyone here would want him.
There are better options in free agency than an old wr in the twighlight of his career.

Yes!
One down. Now we need Randle-El and Givens to resign and for some other team to make a mistake and sign Antonio Bryant.

Awesome! We really didn't need another older, smallish, WR clearly on the decline.

Excellent. I didn't see that as a great move.

He is making around $6M this year under his new contract. That is way too much and I don't think that he would have made that with this regime.

March-10th-2006, 10:36 AM
wheew!! thank you, we didn't need another 'Irvin Fryer'

Good. He's getting long in the tooth. I was surprised how many people wanted him.

He deserves to retire as a Ram.

I'm glad that the Bruce temptation is no longer a factor. I feel they've been granted a second life with this CBA extension now they need to be smart about FO decisions.
You'd think they'd learn their lesson w/ Coles.

Why did anyoen want him anyways ?
He should retire as RAM sucking there , not here !

Funny how this thread is unanimously relieved. I wonder how many would hop on the Bruce bandwagon had we signed him.

Well, some of you are probably too young to remember, but we did ok with the last "over the hill" Rams receiver we signed - Henry Ellard.
The man was a First Down Machine.
Besides, it's slim pickings with this year's FA WR crop...

So we can sign who? Lloyd? Robinson? :whoknows:

His health was a concern last year.
It's always nice to add a veteran presence who commands respect from opposing defensive backfields, but at this point in his career let's face it, any attention that Bruce receives is largely a result of his name and past production. Over the long haul, I don't think he's enough in and of himself to take the heat off Santana.

"Limited to 11 appearances in 2005 because of injuries, Bruce had 36 catches and 525 yards, his lowest totals since 1998"
sheesh. 6 mill for an old player with those numbers? larceny.

I really couldn't see him anywhere else but with the Rams really so it's fitting that he remains a Ram..

What lesson is that? Coles is a really good reciever still...he just didn't work out here. That thought made no sense to me. :logo:

I expected him to return all along. It makes sense for him. He will retire as a Ram and that is a rarity in this modern NFL. I commend him.

That's great news.....We need to build around young, up & coming players....
RedskinsFanatic
March-10th-2006, 11:13 AM
I don't necessarily agree that you always need to 'build' around young players..if you want to win now and not tomorrow, why not get a proven player that will and can produce? Bruce would have done that..would he have been the best fit? who knows, but don't knock the guy because he can catch a ball but is over 30...if your 21 and catch a ball once in awhile which would you rather have?

Fryar wasn't beast but an older Henry Ellard sure was good for us. Sometimes age discrimination clouds the mind.

Not saying that he wasn't a good choice or a good reciever for us...but having to learn the lesson of signing players for big money now but wind up taking big CAP HITS later.

cough ** Joe Jurevicius ** cough :D
Once again, Oldskool, I agree with you. I think Jurevicius should be a top priority. What do you think about Eric Moulds?

People.
Brandon Lloyd. Our WR core will be set for at least 1/2 a decade.

Awesome! We really didn't need another older, smallish, WR clearly on the decline.I do agree that he is up there in age and I personally had no interest in us pursuing him, but how is he "on the decline?"
I think that he would have had decent #s if he had played the entire season.
Why did anyoen want him anyways ?
He should retire as RAM sucking there , not here !Please define Isaac Bruce as "sucking?"

I would support ANY player Gibbs decided to bring in, but I would have liked to seen Bruce in the B&G...would I rather have J. Jurevicius? Absolutely!! He's the guy I hope Gibbs goes for...
