I heard his name get brought up on here I think and on this other message board on espn.com. I remember that the Ravens wanted a 1st rounder around the combine but maybe they lowered the asking price. If he would come here it wouldn't matter that we lost LaVar because Ray is a lot better and everyone knows it. Plus Ray Lewis is one of my favorite players that is not on the redskins so if we would get him I would go off the walls. So I am just asking maybe someone here would know: is there any chance we go after and get Ray Lewis?

If he's healthy and we could afford him, I'd like to have him. I haven't heard anything, other than on ES, regarding Ray going to the Skins.

I don't think it would happen , but there's allways a chance.

Is Lewis a Gibbs kinda guy? He knows how to stay in his gap from playing under Marvin Lewis. I just question the size of his ego and the possibility that he would be too much of a distraction. I think the 'Skins are looking at team players to play w/in a system and not Super Stars that make the occassional great play. See Lavar Arrington.

He costs too much in terms of contract and what we would have to give the Ravens. Plus his personality doesnt fit in with this teams. I think Ray Ray is one hell of a MLB, but Gregg Williams leads this defense.
Its not going to happen.

Its not going to happen.I'm not saying that you are wrong or anything like that, but could you please explain what you mean when you say that "his personality doesn't fit?"

Ray Lewis was a super star. He is on the downside of his career and would not be a good value. He's still a decent player, but the salary demands would be way to high. Just not worth it.

Ray Lewis was unquestionably the leader of the defense in Baltimore. Our defensive players have been asked who is the leader on OUR defense. They all respond Gregg Williams. No one wants to change that.
Do you think Ray Ray could come here and just be another cog? Do you think he'll give up his little pregame dance/spasm? Do you think he'd fit into a system that stresses TEAM over the individual? I just dont think Lewis has that type of mentality. He is the Alpha Male. He has to be.
We dont have any of those on our defense, at least not to the extent that Ray Lewis is.

i dont want him. I would rather have Akin, or Julian Peterson, or Will Witherspoon.

No.
1) We'd have to give up alot to the Ravens for him.
2) Too expensive, we have bigger issues than LB right now---no way we could give him (even if we wanted to) the 50 million signing bonus/new deal that he wants.
3) Too old- he's been injury prone the last 2 years, has lost a step and is past his prime. He'd be a more expensive Mike Barrow to us.
4) Like it or Not Ray Lewis is still the face of the Ravens, he dances in the intro (only guy who gets his own personal Nelly "It's hot in here" intro). It is "his" defense not the "no name D" that is here in Washington.
I just don't think he'd be the Gibbs/Williams guy that the Skins would want.
5) Being the face of the Ravens (and the Ravens fans) I don't think he'd be much more popular here than Deion Sanders was when he was a Skin.
If I was Ray Lewis, I would stay a Raven for life.
He will be loved by the citizens of Baltimore and get many lucrative deals with local business just like the late Johnny Unitas.

Because I don't believe, from what I have seen , that Lewis would want to change who is leading the defense from the sideline. But, from the MLB position, out on the field, I think that we could definitely use his leadership qualities.
He is just simply one of the leagues most disiplined and ruthless LBs...dance spasm and all. :)

No. We have bigger issues to handle then getting yet another high profile LB in a Redskin uniform. Plus he is getting up there in age. We need a LB, but I think he will be a tad bit too expensive.

Hell, he wouldn't even have to move! What a great pick up that would be. He loves football, and he loves to win. Just what the doctor ordered to replace you know who. This is a perfect fit for him, and logisticly beneficial for him. We'll see.
