Found this on Yahoo...on one hand JA is looking for a lot of guaranteed money which Snyder probably wouldn't balk at like other owners...he doesnt seem to ind to dish out the bonuses, BUT on the other hand they are reporting we are no longer interested in him since we signed Carter. A lot of us have already speculated this, but now the Ramsey/2006 2nd, and 2007 1st is spreading like wild fire. Bottom line....who knows???I hope we get him.

John Abraham: Contract Demands Turning Suitors Away

Update: Interest from other teams in Abraham, who is being shopped by the Jets, could be decreasing the Daily News reports. The Redskins are no longer interested after signing former 49ers end Andre Carter. And the Broncos may be cooling on Abraham because of old off-the-field issues. He may still visit the Falcons, Seahawks and Browns this week.

Recommendation: It is very possible that Abraham's asking price of around $18 million might be turning off potential suitors, since recently signed defensive ends Carter and Darren Howard (Eagles), have received in the neighborhood of $9 million to $10 million. Still, the Jets would probably like to see Abraham leave almost as badly as he wants to go, so he could still be switching teams soon

i won't be too upset if we don't give up 2 high draft picks and ramsey. for a 2nd, a first, and ramsey, we should at least get abraham and their 2nd.

"The Redskins are no longer interested after signing former 49ers end Andre Carter."

Has anyone with the Redskins actually said this or this this all media conjecture?

media conjecture. I guarantee it.
No one with the team has specifically said, we aren't interested anymore. Which means something could be going on.

Although I think there really isn't such a thing as overpaying for a free agent (if he's been targeted as a priority all along, as was Randle El), I think that you can give up too much in a trade. This years 2nd and Ramsey would be fine, but giving up a 1st too seems to be excessive with the signing of Carter.

I don't fell like we should trade our 1st away two years in a row, especially when the guy were getting is getting past his prime and not to mention costs lots more than Campbell costs us. If we can get him for this years 2nd and a players such as P.Ramsey it won't be that bad.

As the Redskins have already met with Abraham and his agent. His agent, I believe, in one of the 600 threads was quoted as saying he wanted John on the Redskins. I wonder if this is them blowing some smoke to try and get some of the other teams to either match the contract parameters we offered or get out of the way of our deal.

The Jets should be content with Ramsey and our first rounder next year for a guy who WILL NOT play for them and has "off the field problems". IMO they are shopping around our offer and not finding many better offers for him around the league. We will steal him from the Jets because we are willing to pay him top dollar and because he refuses to play for them anymore. Ramsey and next years 1 is very fair for this type of player, now are the Jets going to buy it???

Keep this years 2nd rounder and add a young DT (Harris) to go with our new D-line. Then we just have to sign one more front-line CB and we can sit back and "coach em up".

Carter will play LB for us, he is way too small to play DE and keep us competitive. He is the same size as Marcus 6'3 250, 6'4 260 Carter. :2cents:

Boy, we could go on and on about contract specifics... which I don't quite understand... But, the bottom line is... Abraham would be well suited as a Redskin player... And the Redskins would be better Defensively with Abraham.... I can't wait until this is over and the issue is... Should he wear #56 or not... LOL

Took me a minute, but here is the thread I was talking about. Take it as you will. Not stating it as fact, just speculating.

Do you know how big John Abraham is? 6'4 258. Literally the exact same size. Are you suggesting he is too small to play end?

http://extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146060&highlight=abrahamAh, ok, I never saw that thread. But, I don't really know how much JAs agent is gonna have to do with a trade situation between the two teams.

I mean, if the Jets want alot of picks...well, we just don't have them.

It makes you wonder what his actual value is. If Daunte Culpepper is only worth a 2nd rounder what is JA worth? Just 12 months ago Daunte was the #2 QB behind Manning. You would think that JA would be worth Ramsey and a 2nd rounder.

the other thing is this...we are thinking they want ramsey bc kitna sighned with DET, but i think the bigger issue is that NO signed Brees and probably wont take Leinart, so maybe the Jets are trying to trade up for Leinart? If so what would the Skins offer?

Agreed, we don't have a lot of picks to give. But, if his contract demands aren't being met by anyone else, they may not have much choice but to deal with us for what we have to give.

i think we are right where we need to be. The only suitors for Abraham are us and the Broncos. But the Broncos are going to be going into a bidding war for TO with Dallas (which im praying Denver wins) With the bonuses that Danny S likes to give out we can actually pay for Abraham and Denver can't. So as I see it no one else wants JA and since we have the only offer for him they are gonna have to take it and run with it since they will have pennington, Ramsey, and maybe leinert or young but i think if they were smart they would take D'Brick to build a solid core around ramsey and pennington. Besides they have a high pick in the rounds so Omar Jacobs will be available in the 2nd round for them who i see being the best QB in the draft.

What if they end up just releasing him? And we trade Ramsey to them for a pick.

At #4, they might not even have to trade up to get him. Unless the Saints trade down, maybe to a team like Denver who has two #1's or a team that will trade their first this year with a first next year, Leinert or Young will be there. If the Saints do trade down, at least Cutler would be there. It will be interesting...
