The school I coach for, has decided that they want to cripple my efforts of making the team better. They decided that the football program, heck the sport's program in general didn't need as much funds. They just dropped my budget by 25%, and they still expect the football team to win.
As Athletic Director, I'm suppose to let the other coaches from the other sports know why they can't have the items that they need, and why we can't have as many home games as we would like.
I hate politics and for the first time since I got into coaching, I'm seriously thinking of leaving the job. It's becoming no fun to coach. Especially when politics are coming before teaching kids how to play.
Part of my budget also includes giving scholarships to kids. Being that I work for a private school, the scholarships are high on getting the talent needed to contend. Just don't know if I want to do this anymore. I got in to coaching because I love the game of football, and wanted to teach kids to love the game too. I know that I'll still be able to teach kids to love the game, but without wins and attendance, there is no program.
Well, that's my venting, just wanted to know if any other coaches have the same or simuliar problems with their Board of Directors.
