Yeah, he's pretty much a wh0re. Its a shame and very sad; probably the biggest fall in sports history.

Sad...but you're right. He made his bed, and now he has to sleep in it. I never really saw the problem with betting on the sport you played...so I can pity the guy; but it was against the rules but he did it anyway. Se La Vie, as they say...

I saw him in November there!!! I also noticed that NO ONE was stopping to talk to him and no one seemed interested that he was there. He did look sad and embarassed.

Dude, you should have got his autograph. I realize you don't respect him, but his sig. could be worth a lot of money.

Actually, it's not worth much at all because he's spread it out so much. You can find a Pete Rose autograph just about anywhere.

I don't feel sorry for him. He cheated the rules, he lied about it. he has done nothing of value since then other than live in the past.

like he couldn't have started a business or a charity to help people in the last 20 years?

What, dressing up like the San Diego Chicken at Wrestlemania is not to be valued? Man, you need to set your priorities straight.

Wow...that's like having OJ set up an autograph table in front of a cutlery store....

I would have paid the $ for the autograph just so i had 10 seconds of his time to tell him what an embarassment he is. Then i would have torn up the autograph in front of him.

That's how many he had? Funny, its one of those records where people remember the number he beat and not the one he ended with - kind of like Ripken and the single season HR record.

Sad but not unexpected. I cannot feel pity for him. First I believe that he possesses far below normal intelligence. Did anyone catch his appearance on The O'Reilly Factor a few years back. He couldn't even bring himself to apologize. He sorta reminds me of "Mombo" (spelling) from Blazzing Saddles. Just as his only skill was "crushing people", Rose's only skill was hitting a baseball. He doesn't know how to perform as a normal functioning human being outside of baseball yet it is his fault that he is on the outside looking in. Maybe if he was a little smarter he would be remembered as the Hit King and not the guy who bet on baseball.

Aw, come on! Pete may have gambled, and then told MLB and everyone else to kiss off, but he didn't murder anyone! Sheesh!

On a side note, several years ago I was at a (then) Prince William Cannons game and Pete Rose's son came up to bat for the opposing team. You can imagine the catcalls.

"Place your bets!"

That maybe true, but I don't think someone's life should be ruined just because he bet on a baseball game. I believe people in this country take sports way to seriously. So what, he bet on baseball, big deal.

I'm thinking that you missed my point. I wasn't comparing the depth of their sins but was comparing the silliness of having Rose hawk his wares in front of a gambling establishment when gambling was the illness that led to his demise.

His life is hardly ruined. He just sold a zillion books and made some nice coin off of that, and people pay him to write his name. I dont think someones life should be ruined for what he did, but I have no problem with his good name being ruined. I also dont think he should be in the HOF

I think he should be in the HOF, but I wouldn't have a problem if on his plaque it states he was banned from baseball for gambling.
