3. Eagles 271.7 mill
4. Raiders 256.7 mill
5. Cowboys 249.0 mill
6. Patriots 247.9 mill
7. Broncos 230.3 mill
8. Giants 229.1 mill

I suppose you can, in a way, count merchandise sales. You have to remember though-- that the time difference in the indicated poll was 2000-2006. You have to add Norv, Spurrier and all that was messy with Washington at that time. I am curious to see how much that will change after this up and coming season.

Having back to back successful seasons and we can start to see a monopoly with the Redskins and their merchandise.

I think having the biggest stadium, longest running sellout streak in the league (since 1968), being the most valuable and profitable sports franchise in America has alot to do with dedicated fans.

depends, think of how many busted Sanders, Brad Johnson, Jeff George, Coles, Bailey, Smoot, Trotter, Armstead (am I missing any) jerseys there are. With the turnover on our team, one would think we would rank in the top 10 for sales, we have one of the 10 largest fanbases in the NFL (maybe even top 5).

I think it is pretty sad that Packers fans, who number far less than we do, are at #2, despite all the hype we have had the past 6 years.

With that said, if you wanna say dedication can be based on merchandise sales, then one could say that dedication is based on total revenue, and everyone knows we top that of all sports teams in the nation!

i dont think that is really a fair way to determine the best fans. the patriots are on there but think about all the bandwagon patriot fans who bought a jersey or something in the past 3 years when they were winning. half those people dont know crap about the team.

You know what WB, I think I'll go ahead and say you guys are the most dedicated. Sure, we toughed it out through 13 terrible years but that's nothing like what you guys have experienced.

Besides, as a die hard Washington Capitals fan (the oldest NHL franchise to never have won a Stanley Cup) I can understand how painful it must be to continue cheering your Eagles. There's nothing quite like being let down over and over again but to keep coming back like a glutton for punishment takes dedication. Props to you for that  .

That's what I'm talking about, DC. Eagles fans are the most passionate, dedicated fans in the NFL. They have sold out regularly during TERRIBLE seasons. There is a thread in here where I posted statistics that shows that. No one can say Eagle fans are less passionate than anyone else. If they do they're an *******.

I will give you that it takes alot to be a die hard Eagles fan despite never being champions. You guys are passionate, of course Hitler was passionate too. Class is not a requirment for passion. It would be interesting to see a ranking of the most respected fans based on voting for any team other than their own.

What does this have to do with class? You're generalizing an entire fanbase based on myths, things you've heard, things that have had happened, or your own disdain for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Every fanbase has douches in it, the Washington Redskins included.

Didn't I say class isn't a requirment. That was my point. Isn't 'things that have happened' a pretty good source for judgment. And yes every fanbase has douches, the Eagles just have a higher percentage.

Yeah. Your point was class isn't a requirement. Indicating you think the Philadelphia Eagle fans are classless. How do I know this? Well read the end of your last post.

LOL, rocket scientist, yes that was my point. Listen, I've only been to about a 1/3 of the stadiums around the league but by far out of those the two that stand out are Philly and Seattle. Both places many of the fans are disgusting and violent. Even Dallas was rowdy and harassing but wasn’t vile. I think it’s an interesting point that Philly and Seattle are so similar. I think when a team actually wins it all they become a little more refined. Maybe that’s not the case but I think it has something to do with it. I think you guys are just bitter. As much as I hate Dallas as a team, I do respect them. Philly? Nope! My only point when I brought up class, or lack there of, was that this was not a requirement.

#2-Steelers
#3-Dolphins
#4-Bears
#5-Chiefs
#6-Broncos

I'll break this down for you into three parts;

1) Dedicated based on merchandise sales doesn't speak to lack of class in a fan base. Dedicated doesn't period.

2) Philly is a prime example of low class fans.(not all, just higher percentage)

3) Bitterness from never winning a championship contributes to Philly fans attitudes.

I have to agree with you on the Packers at the top. It might have to do with not much else do in that area but your have to give props to fans that brave those conditions. Also, I think they have a smaller population base to draw from than many of the other high ranked teams.

Dolphins, Broncos and Browns aren't even close. Dolphins have a dedicated national following, but a piss-poor "local" following that can't even sell out their games. That automatically puts them in the bottom half.

The Broncos have a great local following, but not much of a national fanbase. The Browns USED TO have great fans, but years of misery has taken the life out of it. These are not the same Browns as yesteryear, so let's stop pretending.

To me, it comes down to these:
Steelers (clearly #1)
Packers

The next tier would include:
Redskins (great local fanbase, huge and loyal national Following)
Chiefs (incredibly loyal local following, no national fanbase to speak of)
Cowboys (their local following is very average and fair-weather, but their national fanbase is arguably the biggest)
Eagles (the last 6 years have solidified a devoted fanbase and growing bandwagon)
Bears (overrated as a fanbase, but still a dedicated following)

The third tier:
Broncos
Patriots (Pats will always be second fiddle to Red Sox)
Giants (old-school fanbase, but not fanatical- split loyalties of the myriad of NY teams dilutes the passion- ie Jets, Yankees, Knicks/Nets, Islanders/Devils)
Bills
49ers (losing has taken its toll, and San Fran is not a football town)

HS, College, the Fish, they seem pretty rabbid football fans to me. Cowboys? plz until Bill came back to coach them. I had not even seen a Cowboy fan since 1994. How can you putt the Broncos and Giants on the Bottem tier? Broncos fans always seemed pretty good to me. They are loud as hell, sell out, and follow there team pretty close. I'll admit Giants fans are almost silent at games because there so old age wise.We still have the 2nd longest waiting list in football for season tickets behind the Packers and we are the most watched team in the NFL I believe.

I don't think there's much of a correlation. I'm a diehard Skins fan, but the only jersey I have was a gift given to me several years ago, and other than that, I have a beanie and a couple of T-shirts. Meanwhile, some bandwagon-riding asshat "fan" may have three jerseys of a particular team. Besides, the Redskins are the highest-valued team in the NFL -- and it ain't just because of parking prices!

Actually I don't think merchandise sales are a good indicator at all.

All that means are those teams have very marketable players whos jersies are easy to sell.

1. Steelers 337.8 mill-Roethlisberger, Bettis, Ward
2. Packers 297.5 mill-FAVRE(come on how many of these do you see?)
3. Eagles 271.7 mill-MCNABB AND OWENS(these were everywhere just a couple years ago)
4. Raiders 256.7 mill-Moss plus the jersies sell big in the "ghettos"
5. Cowboys 249.0 mill-Come on these guys define bandwagon jersey sales
6. Patriots 247.9 mill-Brady Brady Brady
7. Broncos 230.3 mill-Okay you got me here. No idea the Broncos sell this much.
8. Giants 229.1 mill-Shockey and Barber I guess. Or maybe Eli.
9. Chiefs 226.8 mill-Priest and Gonz.
10. Bears 219.7 mill-Whoa the Bears?? Okay this too. Urlacher maybe...

Trust me...after living in South Florida for 7 years, while there are some knowledgable Dolphins fans, most are clueless, and only follow the team when they are doing well. They've got their die-hards, but they are few and far between.
