Cavs come into the verizon center at 6 today. This is obviously a huge game. I heard Caron's playing so that will help.

Grunfeld really needs to shop some players for a deal in the off-seasonThis team just is not deep and the bench is damn near non-existant..We're making chicken salad out of chicken ( you know what) at this point in the season. This same Cav team will blow the Wiz out of the building next weekend.

The Wizards tried to give away the game to Cleveland's scrubs.

This team is so entertaining in that they try to invent new ways to lose games each time they play. When can we get a coach who gets his players prepared and can counter the opposition effectively?

How do you figure. we crushed these guys while the game was competitive. The problem was EJ sat the starters to start the 4th instead of starting them to keeping the momentum. Then they got the momentum and that's not an easy thing to get back. So EJ rolled the dice to see if other players could keep it rolling but we aren't that experienced yet. Those players haven't played in that kind of a situation or all together.

He should have left Gil and AD or AD and Caron or Caron and AJ on the court or he should have just played his regular starters to start the 4th until we broke their backs. You knew they would come out for a push to start the 4th. That was just stupid coaching.

hands11
April-16th-2006, 11:38 PM
4th quarter starting line up

AD
B Thomas
Caron
Jefferies
Ruffin

And they had a hot flip and that big Brazil dude on a tear.

What the hell was that.

He just didnt put enough out there.

So Gil, AJ and Haywood were all riding the pin. What kind of insane line up was that. 3 roll players, one start and an sometimes starter

You dont shut if down until its a sure thing. I hope EJ learned something. You dont shut it down between quarters. MAYBE if we started the 4th on a new run then you shut it down at the 8 minute mark.

Stupid coaching because it looked like it did not work, they had their scrubs in their too. I agreed with his plan, we lost 5 games without Caron, losing a player in the last quarter to a teams B unit would suck a lot worse than giving up a 20+ point lead and still winning by a healthy margin. EJ has made some bad decisions in the past, but this one I liked.

re-read all my posts, i criticize the wiz even when they win...its got nothing to do with losing except that my points are even more evident in Losses. Because when we win and i complain, people are like "We won, just enjoy it." The season is just all moot if u cant do it in the playoffs and with the way the wiz like to give up leads in the fourth quarter, its not gonna be pretty in the playoffs.

I look at the glass half empty, if you dont like it, dont read my posts.

Well we have come a long way.

Just two years ago we were bitching about getting rid of the likes of Stackhouse and Laetner.

Just four years ago we were celebrating what turned out to be an unsuccessful return by Michael Jordan, well unsuccessful in the W-L column but definitely successful in the pocketbooks of Abe Pollin.

Just six years ago we were stuck with a team full of guys like the overpaid Juwan Howard, the douchebag Rod Strickland, the old unreliable Mitch Richmond, etc. etc. need I move on?

Wizards are back in the postseason...I know I have said some nasty things this year, as have a lot of us, I think after last year we were just a little too spoiled and wanted more. I predicted 50 wins for this team, and I think thats definitely attainable. We lost some games we could have easily won(Hornets and Celtics lost to fluke buzzer beaters)but we're on our way there.

were you around last season? Ask around, im sure Bugs or Hands11 will tell ya I was bickering about EJ even when we won...Me and Bugs would get into Legendary arguments about the Glass Half Full/Glass Half Empty argument.

I understand the dice he was rolling but it was to much of a risk. I would have risked the extra 4 minutes of floor time out of a whole game in order to make sure we still had the momentum coming out to start the 4th quarter.

Starting quarters and finishing quarter are major momentum swings. If he just played his main player another 4 minutes and we continued to kick then you totally blow them away and they get nothing from this game except fear of facing us in the playoffs. As it went, they now know their B team and crush our B team and that gives them hope and a startegy. They know if they can get our starters in foul trouble their reserves and go more then ours. We lost a huge mental edge we could have gained just because of 4 more minutes. The Cavs could shut it down with a full quarter to go because they are locked in. We shouldnt have shut it down until about the 7 or 8 minute mark. That my friend was stupid coaching.

True. Mads been bitching for years. We both actually get on EJ when he does bone head moves, win or loss.

I think he is getting better but as Ive always said, he seems to learn at a slow pace. The team is young and he is still young and they are getting better and growing so its a pretty good fit. Having stability has outweighted changing to a more seasoned coach. I dont see them changing but he has to correct his mistakes or there will come a day this team has outgrown him.

A coach needs to get it right more often then the players do. A coach should be close to 100% right with his substitutions, his T's, he TO's and adjustments to momentum. He has to be talented enough to give the players the best chance of success. He is the general. The players are out there with the live bullets.

I just didnt like the move of shutting it down to start the 4th quarter in such an importand game against the team you are likely to face in the playofs when you had owned them all game. Given what happen, I would hope EJ learned a valuable lesson and would do differently if he has it to do all over again.
