Does anyone feel that with LaVar and Antiono now playing for the Giants that our defensive signals and what we like to do will be compromised when we play them..Is that going to be a issue this season..I wonder:gaintsuck

I remember during the 2nd Cowboys game telecast Aikman and Buck mentioned that Gregg Williams found out that Pierce and Hasselbeck had stole the signals in our first matchup with the Giants, Because of that Williams changed the signals for the Cowboy game because Michael Barrow was on there roster. I'm sure he did it again the next week against the Giants.
I'm sure its not hard to change the signals from the sideline on a week to week basis much like a 3rd base coach in baseball. The signals are constantly changing.

The biggest difference, between this last year when Pierce left and this coming year (With Lavar leaving), is we have made some significant changes on defense. If you don't think having Andre Carter on the D-Line is going to seriously change our tendencies and plays. Add to that having AA in the secondary, who is a completely different type of Safety then Clark was, now your talking some major changes to the D.

I'm sure Jerry Gray will add new wrinkles to our defense in which our signals will have to be changed.

sorry man, just not true. defense uses signals. they thought about switching it at the nfl owners meetings this year but voted against it.

No, defense does not have headsets. They tried to change that this year, but it was shot down by the competition committee

This is the film era. Players and coaches sit in the film room for hours analyzing everything.

They already know our signals and our coaches take that into consideration every game.

They can't steal what is constantly changing.

Gregg changes the calls from week to week.

Speaking of that, have you folks noticed he always gestures and says "pick up the phone?"

Not going to happen so why worry about it. The staff is too smart to use the same set of signals each week. High school football this is not.

This will be intriguing, because Lavar and Pierce are the only two players in NFL history to switch teams.

The sarcasm on this board is just awesome some times. I think GW will already have thought of these kinds of things waaaaaay before we ever did.

Why didn't we steal the Giants signals since we had Otis Stoutmire?

Greg Williams and Joe Gibbs VS. Lavar and Antonio Pierce in a mental game..

Ill take GW and JG all day

tackle football in the backyard.. probably LA and AP...

I don't see Lavar or Peirce winning any spelling bees in the future.. lets just put it that way...

I think the second Giants game and a few others Williams had the defense wearing armbands and would just call out the numbers.

Do you guys remember in 2003 when we released a reserve guard wilber brown (I think that was his name or maybe I am halucinating), the Patriots picked him up the week of thier game with us? Everyone was in an uproar. Didn't help them though, we won! Brady threw three picks I believe. That was the loss that preceded the pat's 20 game win streak....

hahaha... that's right.

G.Willliams and company are definitely more capable than LaVar and Pierce. I'm sure they are aware of this one....

that sounds pretty close...I remember something like that. That was like the 2nd game of the year, right?

I think GW does change signals.

AP took way too much credit for the Giants dominating win last year.
Let's face it, after Mara died that week...nobody was going to win against the Giants.

They were sky high and we were flat.
We proved that theory by thrashing them at our house later in the year.

The whole signal and defense stealing was wayy over blown.

What would you do if you were playing your old team? I would have a list of home addresses and phone numbers attached to the play book.....

What would you do as a coach facing an explayer? I'd make sure to change things up using false signals.......

But thats just the way i do.....

Last year when we played to Boys the 2nd time they we're talking about Barrow possibly stealing signals. And they said that as a precaution we we're calling our plays off of a chart taped to one of the players (Marshall I guess) wristbands.

BTW Great sig Illone.

can we please get over the fact that just because a player leaves for another team, that the team is ruined just because they know the system? so what? not just Joe Gibbs and company but all NFL coaches are smart enough to do something to counteract possible advantages a former player may give to his new team because of his knowledge of whatever playbook he had previously learned.

I hear one of the coaching staff's main complaints with LA was that he never attended meetings in the time he was injured. I wouldn't worry too much about it...
