My friend and I were having a "discussion" tonight regarding a hypothetical situation. The question posed was as follows: Would you trade Brandon Lloyd and our 53rd overall pick for the #2 pick and draft Reggie Bush? Of course this is unlikely and darn near inconceivable, but step out of reality with me here, lol. Would you draft Reggie Bush with an already elite RB on your team in Portis, OR draft another need with Mario Williams already off of the board. Trading down was not the option as posed in his question. I chose to draft another pressing need in the draft, ala OLB/CB/DE. My friend chose to have Reggie Bush and Clinton Portis splitting carries.
Side argument:
I believed that if they split carries (Portis around 20 and Bush around 15) one would become irritated with their carries and wish to be traded where they can be a full-time starter and showcase their skills, even if said team was winning. My friend believed that they would both be content.
So putting aside all cap restrictions and implications. What are your views on both arguments if you were making the call on draft day.
