I am hearing reports of violence. These are not the same peaceful protestors as earlier in the day.

Media is staying away... but from what I understand 600+ protesters are throwing bottles and rocks at police in riot gear in Northern San Diego. The place is Vista, CA and there are reports of mobs going out and flipping over cars, breaking windows, and throwing rocks and bottles at cops.

I've been pretty happy the protests have been peaceful and benign. It supports my belief that Al Queda is not a threat to America... if they were we would be seeing suicide bombers at these marches.

I've heard this report from enough people to think it is true. Another report of violence in Santa Ana I tend to think is false (listening to a scanner, didn't hear a thing).

After watching our local Fox Network News tonight, I have no faith in the media of Southern California to honestly broker the news. Listen to this reporter from local news take on conservative radio. The best ranting and raving is saved for the end.

"You took this country (Mexico), you killed people, in order to take this country (Mexico) for yourself (America)." (http://hotair.sjc.cachefly.net/audio/2006-04/valdez-john-and-ken.mp3)

Click the link to hear crackpot reporter blame Americans living today for the crimes of the 1850s. I suppose we should also suspend trade with the Japanese, Italians and Germans over WWII.

WOW. I knew that San Francisco was trying to disarm it's civilian population. I WASN'T aware that San Diego had already disarmed its POLICE FORCE. There's a very simple way to deal with this sort of crap.... it's called GUNFIRE. Aimed fire designed to KILL people committing civil unrest at this level.

Why were the police wearing riot gear? Were they expecting a riot?

Of the alleged 20,000 people in Sacramento marching around the capitol yesterday, I saw no policemen in riot gear.

That is a moot question if I have ever heard one.

I saw 30,000 peaceful people yesterday. My friend who works in San Jose saw 100,000 peaceful people there.

I don't think the message is likely to change because a few young hotheads in one place got liquored up and angry. Sorry.

I'm assuming you know this already, but I'll say it anyway. SDPD isn't responding with lethal force because there are supposed to be very specific rules governing when lethal force is actually legal to be used.

If someone gets shot over this issue, things are really going to flame up quickly. How do you say Rodney King in Spanish?

I know that. I also know that so far as I'm concerned anyone illegally in this country and anyone aiding or supporting them is guilty of espionage and therefore subject to death for their crime. I really believe that the restrictions on use of deadly force by law enforcement are WAY too strict.
