NC State Finds Coach That Actually Wants Job

With the hiring of Sidney Lowe, assistant coach with the Detroit Pistons, the NC State Wolfpack has assured itself of having a head coach next season.

After being rejected by the Barns/Calipari/Lavin/Beilein gang, the Wolfpack struck out again with their next three choices for the head coaching position- John Wooden, Red Auerbach, and Phil Jackson.

"Um, I'm 95 damn years old," Wooden was heard to say in response to NC State's offer.

With this in mind, NC State went after the much younger, 88 year-old Auerbach.

"Go to Hell," Auerbach replied to Athletic Director Lee Fowler.

"Yeah, let me get right on top of that. No, I've got your number, I'll call YOU," responded Jackson a few days later, snickering.

With Lowe though, the Wolfpack are guaranteed a coach for the upcoming season.

"Thank God," said Fowler. "If Lowe hadn't accepted, I was really nervous about the phone call to our next choice, Bill Belichick."

NC St. is a tough gig. They are the 3rd best team (at best) in their state, while fighting for Wake on that alone. Not only that, but I believe they are looked upon as a "football school." They just ran out a coach who brought them to the NCAA's virtually every year but he never "got it done" in their eyes. They wanted him out. We'll see how they do now... as they say... be careful what you wish for...

Diggs......since you are new....... Mjah is one of the most knowlegable posters on the board......he's also harbors a deep rooted hatred of all ACC baskeball schools.....Duke especially.

Hatred is a strong word. You don't go around hating everyone you compete against in basketball. You begrudgingly respect many of them (UNC). You make fun of others (VT). But you can't hate everyone in your conference.

Wait, a second. This thread was clowning the NC St. Basketball coaching search, which was quite comical considering everybody and their grandmother turned it down. So, in order for one to make fun of that, their school has to win a national championship? :doh:

In fact, I found it extra funny to clown them since NC STATE is the one who pressured the coach to leave. What goes around.....
