That's definitely NOT a hardware problem if you can hear everything but voices. What software do you use to view DVDs?

divx won't do much of anything if Windows Media has the same problem. Really, the only advantage the divx player has is a specialty in using the divx codec. My guess is that if Power DVD is the software that came bundled with your drive that that is where the problem is...
Edit: You might also need to install Windows service pack 2 if you have not already done so.

Well, you need to be a bit more specific. Have you messed with any soundcard or general sound settings recently? Do you have atleast Windows SP2?

It's a software-side issue. You could try to go into PowerDVD and check the sound settings and just give me the basics - any idea what soundcard do you have?

I would check your volume settings for your pc, there are a boat load of different controlls and maybe just maybe one of them got muted or turned down for some reason. I believe in the start with the simple stupid fixes first and move upwards :silly:

Well, the best I can advise you to do right now is try changing your speaker settings. Especially if you have it set on a higher number of speakers (i.e. for surround sound), that could be the source of the problem.

Because the commentary isn't played in surround sound. The way it appears to me, your surround sound settings don't have the voices going to ANY speaker. Surround sound is really the only thing that will explain splitting up the sounds and directing them to various individual speakers...

Creative typically has software that you can mess with. You just need to go change the speaker settings... for example, I can go use the Creative Audio Mixer on my PC and change the Speaker from "Auto" to "2 Speaker" to "4 Speaker" to "5.1 Speaker". My guess is that if you have a 5 or 6 speaker setting selected, that could be why you aren't hearing the voices.
