Ok so my son made the honor roll all year long.. To reward him I went out Friday and got him an Xbox 360 and two games. Man this thing rocks.. Only thing I don't like is the fact the wireless controllers run on batteries.. Be nice if there was a rechargable pack for them. Anyway, if anyone has been thinking about picking one up I definately would, I'm very pleased with the product thus far and so is my son.

It does have rechargeable batteries. Purchase the X-box 360 Plug & Play Kit or the Xbox 360 Quick Charger kit. Each one will give you one free rechargeable battery. I would suggest the Quick Charger because it only takes four hours to charge two batteries. The Plug & Play Kit takes longer, but you can play the games while it is charging. I got my 360 the day it came out. I enjoy it very much. The only problem I've had is the lack of playing time due to work and working on my graduate degree.

If you're 31.... how old is your son? I thought the "honor roll" system started in high school.

He's 10.. nah it's not specifically the honor roll that your thinking off, it's like that but for the younger kids, I call it the honor roll for lack of a better word.

Deans list or something like that.

More and more I am considering one of these. But I just cant bring myself to the point of justifying such a purchase. I havent used the XBox I have in about 5 months.

Congrats on the hard working kid, and being the cool dad that sets goals with rewards.

Hell of a dad there.

I get at a minimum 40 hours of play on 2 AA's. I haven't even used my Plug n Play kit yet.

He's worked damn hard and the boy never asks for anything so admittedly I went overboard to let him know, yes dad is watching and yes dad is pleased. You should have seen his eyes light up, came completely out of the blue and he didn't expect it at all, it was so great.

It's a trade off really.. However I've found if you bought the pro pack with the one controller and hard drive you can get games off ebay and say yourself 20 bucks a title. So those package bundles aren't even worth it.

I would not sell the modded Xbox. IF you don't have Xbox Media Center...get it. That alone is reason enough not to sell an Xbox.

If you have to sell a system to buy another system, I would just wait till one comes down enough to be within your budget.

Waiting for a PS3 is not really an option if you need to sell something to get a 360. PS3 will be insanely priced for the forseable future because of them including Blu Ray drives.

Only you can make that choice. Fanboys will champion their system of choice. I am biased because I have a 360 and because I've hated Sony PS from day one. I forced my genesis and subsequent Sega systems out of the market. That's my grudge. Sony makes fine products and you will not go wrong with either system. What you may want to keep in mind is the fact that the 360 has a massive upgrade ability and it is the hub of a larger entertainment picture by Microsoft. They've only released half of its capability. The PS3 is scheduled to have multiple uses too, but it's not on the market so we can't honestly say what it does or doesn't have. In the past Sony has been notorious for showing screens that operate at a resolution that is much greater than the specs that come in the shelf systems.

In the end, you have to make the decision of which machine to buy on your own. I hope you are as satisfied

I am in the same boat as you are when it comes to playing games with a bunch of people... With that in mind I still picked up a 360 and then after a month went ahead and got xbox live

I LOVE IT...

Honestly I didnt think it would be as fun as having people at your house but its pretty damn close. I really didnt think i would enjoy it as much as I have but I do... GRAW is so addictive online as well as PGR3.

Anyway if you decide to get one hit me up on XBOX live

As the 360 will not likely play all your favorite games, I would keep it. You can get a simple switch to connect both to your TV.

And Xbox Live costs $50 per year for membership. WIth 360 premium you will get a headset. A lot of games offer temporary subscription. You just need a way to connect the Xbox360 to your DSL or Cable modem.

Anyone played the King Kong game?

I finished watching the movie last night, made me curious about the game. I'm normally a sports games only type of guy but I've been in to COD2 something serious.

We played it - you get to play from the perspective of Jack (the writer) as well as King Kong himself. Almost the whole game is set on the island. New York is a bit of an afterthought.

It's definitely worth renting but is not a purchase for us, particularly as it doesn't have any on-line content, and replay value would be limited once you have completed the story. But who wouldn't want to be King Kong taking on dinosaurs, natives, and the police in New York. :)

Damn Goth, hell of a dad.

My dad is buying me a Jeep for getting Dean's list all year. I've been driving around a mini-van for almost three years, so it's overdue. But at age 10, the XBox 360 is a crucial gift.

I applaud you. :)

I just did this the other day, for my son's XBox 360. There was nothing to it! Buy the XBox wireless USB Adapter, (it's $99.90 and plugs into the USB port in the back of the Xbox). You should be able to set everything else up, as prompted, directly on the Xbox....
