Sherry Preston said there is a firing range near the basement???? WTF???
I'd expect that to be ruled out right away.... AND WHY would you have a firing range right next to Congress... although.... *EDIT* Police practice firing range...

I don't understand why they just had a press conference. The poor Captial Police woman was getting hounded and didn't have any information.... she basically said, "We have SWAT Teams in the Building, we are clearing the building..." and then the reporters all flooded her with questions she couldn't answer.

Sounds like one person made the initial report... and they are in lockdown investigating.

The House isn't in session everyday, but it is not becuase they are lazy. Congressmen may be crooks and jerks, but they are not lazy. On Fridays, the Reps usually travel to their districts to do local stuff.

This is very serious news... but watching the media try to squeeze out some information is quite funny.

Between this, Ohio State Library fan, and Trampoline Basketball... its been a very amusing week.

Reports of gunfire, gunman prompt Capitol lockdown

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Capitol complex was locked down on Friday after reports of gunfire in a garage and a separate report that a man had a gun in a Rayburn building gym.

"At 10:30 this morning, we received a report of shots fired inside the Rayburn garage," Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, a public information officer for the Capitol Police, said.

"At this time, we continue to investigate. We have tactical teams inside the building."

She said there was no indication that anyone had been hurt.

CNN's Dana Bash said the Capitol was reopened, and there were conflicting reports it was closed for a second time after two women reported a man with a gun inside a Rayburn gym.

A senior law enforcement source told CNN's Brian Todd that police were investigating the possibility that the man may have been a plainclothes officer.

Law enforcement expert Mike Brooks said he had not heard any reports of victims or physical evidence of gunfire.

He noted that Capitol Police have a firing range in the basement, but a congressional source said the shots were not heard from that level.

Business continued as usual on the Senate side, Bash said.

The Containment and Emergency Response Team was searching the area, Brooks said. (Capitol area)

CNN's Ted Barrett said people were moving outside the Rayburn about an hour after the report came in. That was "probably a good sign," he said.

Five ambulances, "a ton of police cars and a ton of cops" were also there, but there was no indication of any immediate threat, Barrett said.

"It certainly is calm and controlled at this point," he said. "The police do not seem overly concerned that there might be a gunman loose at this point."

The alert came moments after a press conference held by Rep. John Sensenbrenner on immigration reform, CNN producer Deidre Walsh said.

"We saw several Capitol Hill police officers running quickly down the hallway," she said. Soon after that an announcement was made throughout the building.

Rep. Peter Hoekstra, R-Michigan, was conducting a House Intelligence Committee hearing at the time.

Hoekstra interrupted a witness to tell those at the hearing to remain in the room and said doors must be closed.

"It's a little unsettling to get a Blackberry message put in front of you that says there's gunfire in the building," he said.

"They said they heard gunfire in the Rayburn garage, but this is a huge building, I'm guessing it's a car backfiring or balloons popping," Gene Smith, chief of staff to Rep. Howard Berman, D-California, told The Associated Press. Berman has an office in Rayburn.

Rayburn halls were virtually empty and police were not allowing anyone to leave or take elevators or stairs to the garage, the AP reported.

"No one's panicking, everyone's calm," Charles Isom, spokesman for Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, told AP. "It did ruin some people's lunch plans."

Well, when you get a chance, check it out. The very first couple of verses talks about his "revelation of Jesus Christ" & that's what the book is all about. Most people say "Revelations" without thinking about it because it sounds right to them, but it's not. It is, in fact, singular, not plural.

I tried to look it up on the internet here at work, and I clicked on a link that said REVELATIONS plural, so I could prove you wrong, and a company-generated pop-up came up, which said, "The site you have attempted to enter is forbidden on company computers due to security concerns" :paranoid:

Is the bible really the most published book?

Which version? or is it a combined figure?

I would think that the Koran/Quran would give it a run for it's money.

That or "Dark Side of the Moon"!

Up until recently, Islam was exclusive to certain parts of the world whereas Christianity has circulated the world several times over & can be found in every country. Islam cannot...or at least, not up until very recently. Yes, I'm sure the Bible is the most published (or should I say, most widely circulated publishing...or both).
