George Washington is starting to re-load.
The Colonials brought in transfers like Regis Koundjia and Cheyenne Moore a year ago — and have now brought in former Virginia Tech swingman Wynton Witherspoon, according to sources close to the situation.
The 6-foot-7, 185-pound Witherspoon averaged 6.3 points in 21 games as a sophomore last season and will give GW another athletic wing that has become its staple.
The Colonials lost Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Mike Hall and Omar Williams to graduation — and guard Danilo Pinnock signed with an agent and will thus remain in the NBA draft.
Junior guard Carl Elliott also put his name in for the draft, but he's expected to withdraw and return to school, according to sources close to the situation. The Colonials also return guard Maureece Rice and forward Robert Diggs.
George Washington assistant Roland Houston was key in convincing Witherspoon, a Georgia native, to come to the A-10. He will sit out this season and then likely team with Moore on the wing in 2007-08.
