View Full Version : NFL = high use of HGH??

Posted this a while back and thought it would be relevant in another post concerning HGH.
The NFL I believe (correct me if I am wrong) does not do a blood test, this would mean that HGH is not detectable.
In a league where size, strength and speed gives you MUCH more of an edge then a game like baseball, wouldn't you not think that at least the same percentage, and most probably much higher, use HGH?
Baseball is so much more about hand/eye cordination then football yet reports from the Grimsley house raid ( http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=2474247 ) make it clear that a high number of players use HGH even after tests were put in place because they knew it would be undetectable. If you look at how the stats jump for players in between the end of the college football season when they get an agent and the draft, huge increase in weight and bench/squat yet are able to cut .1 off their 40?? In only a couple months? Come on.
Do you have a problem if players are using it?
Personally I really dont, they can do what they want, but I for one am not going to be ignorant to the fact that many of the NFL players today are doing what they are doing off of simply off of pure hard work and some Protein Shakes.
This is a two part post, number one if any of you out there doubt that a high high percetagage if not at least have and are now quitting, juiced up in the NFL then you are extremely wrong...........
I know that "he said" ruomers are not smiled up on on here, but I was close with a number of 1A College Football players who I knew juiced, I also now know that at the combine a lot of players get on it big time in order to boost up there numbers........look at the weight, strength/speed stats........they guys go up HUGE before the combine in ALL of these aspects........you can not assume they do are juicing in some way or form..........but you can at least have some deep concern......
These chemists come up with stuff every single day that will bust the test........and they will continue to do so as long as the money is still there.....
If you think that Football is immune from this compared to Baseball then you are extremely mistaken.........it probably is as big or even bigger as a problem with the talent parity..........
Do you have a problem if Lavar gets his edge off of a shot in the ass?
You got a problem if ST rubs his legs with the "clear"?
Big enough problem enough to not root for them and hope they get suspended?

I would bet the house the guy has used something illegal to make him better......there are so many illegal substances out there that he could get his hands on and not get caught.......
not only is he money driven but he fits the profile: ego obsessed, competitive and has absolutely no ethics or morals. I would bet the guy would sell out his own mother if it meant he would gain a competitve edge which would help him be a better athlete in front of the cameras.
Have absolutely no proof or evidence from any news agency or source to argue that the guy uses some type of illegal performance enhancing drug.......but I would bet the house on it.

Archeulta and and Owens do have great work ethics, but not all NFL players have that work ethic and I would not even go as far to say that those guys have harder work ethics then say Roger Clemens, Cal Ripken or Barry Bonds........
Woops.......hasn't BB been on some type of juice for a long time now?
Conclusion:
There are Baseball players that have amazing work ethics just like the NFL. And there are some who work as hard as the former Left Tackle Larry Allen on the Cowboys.
If you have an amazing work ethic does not mean you are not using a performance enhancing drug to give you even better results which mean a 5 million dollar signing bonus rather then 500K. AND YOU KNOW WHAT, I DONT BLAME THEM, I WOULD DO THE SAME.
But please do not be ignorant to the fact that this has and is going on to some extent.

julius peppers tested positive for steroids his rookie year and still was awarded defensive rookie of the year. look at terrell owens. he has muscles that i didnt think existed. he just looks like a freak of nature. i really would not doubt if he took HGH or THG and has gotten away with it.
i would love for nothing more than to see him busted for anything since i hate him so much

You never know how many could be using the stuff. Scary to think if they announced tomorrow it was illegal and testing was to begin immediately, just how many would be caught.

I agree with the other guys, he seems to be a workout fiend. His body doesn't seem unnaturally big or anything like that. He's just really cut.

Of course TO will never test positive, it would cost the league too much money if he was suspended. The Cowboys have become the soap opera of the NFL since they signed him.

It is already illegal????
They just do not do blood testing because like the baseball PA (players association) the NFL is not allowed to conduct blood tests for drugs only urin tests........which makes it impossible to detect use of HGH, but still very illegal.......if someone was caught with it at hte airport like with the wizonator they would not have to test postive for it, the NFL could suspend them right then or there for just having the substance on them

They let it come out that through re-testing old urine that Romo used the clear.......they would let it out........I just think these players are just too careful, know the testing system too well and are basically advised on how to beat the system, what they can use and when to use it........
The NFL only has the drug program so as to make you the fans feel better.......I PROMISE YOU, the owners would love nothing more then to have all their players be on some type of illegal enhancing drug.........if I was an owner paying 100M a year, I would turn the other way.......

I think all the players should be able to use steroids.
And we should let androids play as well. That would make a great game. Android football.

It's a good bet that some, or even many, NFL players do take steroids and/or HGH. Don't hold it against them - for that kind of money, I would take 'roids. Wouldn't you? If not, then you're not as competetive as many professional athletes:
Easily Obtained Steroids Focus of Debate (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2003/more/11/26/us.doping.ap/)
"Steroids expert Bob Goldman has surveyed hundreds of athletes every few years for two decades, from bodybuilders to Olympians to pros.
He wanted to know how far athletes will go to win. The answer: to the grave.
"I made up a hypothetical magic pill. I told them they'd win every competition for five years, but then die from it," Goldman says.
Each time he has taken the survey, more than half the athletes have said they would take the pill."
Note that NFL steroid testing is easily beaten -
"There are thousands and thousands of ways you could modify a steroid to change its structure and avoid detection," steroids researcher William Llewellyn says. "It's not tremendously difficult to create something like THG..."
There's an elephant in the room. We can't get rid of it, so we may as well not ignore it. :)

My only problem with steroids is the health effects. By not testing for HGH you are passively encouraging players to take it. Because only someone who wasn't real keen on keeping his job would not take HGH, or steroids, if he thought everyone else in the League, or even just the guy waiting to take his spot in the line-up, was.
But that is all on the player's union. If the NFLPA or MLBPA has no problem with athletes being pressured into taking HGH or steroids, then I guess it's silly for me to...

I never understood why this people assume this.
Bill Romanowski worked out like a madman - does that mean he didn't take steroids? No, he worked out like a madman AND took steroids. In fact, steroids HELP you to work out like a madman, by increasing the recuperative powers of the body.
Now, this doesn't prove that all guys who work out like madmen are taking steroids, not by any means. But, we need to understand that people who don't take steroids will tend to burn out their bodies more easily. Therefore, the more a guy works out, the more LIKELY it becomes that he's taking steroids. :)

HGH can't be that bad if it can be found at Vitamin World.

Actually, RPR, the name is kind of misleading. You'll notice that it contains no actual human growth hormone - it's a marketing gimmick:
"Ultra Max HGH Gold contains a proprietary blend of the following fruit and vegetables: Vitamin A 600 Mg, Vitamin C 200 Mg, Niacin 25 Mg, Glycoamino Acid-Glucose Complex 2500 Mg, Somatotrophin Mediating Factors 4000 Mg, L-Glutamine, L-Arginine, L-Lysine, Gamma Aminobutyric Acid , Glycine , NOVEL POLYOSE COMPLEX , OKG , VELVET BEAN , STEVIA ."
