Call me crazy but I actually like Round 2 of this draft better than Round 1. The guys we could get there without it being a reach seem like they could fit our team very nicely.

Here are some guys I really have my eye on in Round 2:

I really like Solomon Jones game. He seems like he could be a Udonis Haslem type, except taller and little more athletic.

Paul Milsapp is a defensive beast. He lead NCAA in rebounding three years straight. He also averaged over 2 steals per game.

Steve Novak seems like another Donyell Marshall type to me. Big guy who can shoot the 3. Remember we tried to sign Marshall in FA last year...

My personal pick for #48, Bobby Jones. Guy is a defensive stud who fits better at SG than Jeffries. If he can be our Bruce Bowen(without the 3)we'd be set.

I really like Dee Brown in the second round too

I agree this may be the most stacked 2nd round ever.

Don't count out Pops Mensa-Bonsu, that dude's athleticism is right up there with Tyrus and AJ and although he is 23 he has only been playing ball 5 years. He reminds me of Ruffin but is a much better athlete and can finish alley-oops and put back dunks all the time... that is something we are missing sorely - it seems like no matter which one of our big guys (JJ included - SG my ass :silly: ) gets a rebound it almost always is a travel, a bricked layup or they dribble off their feet. Pops just dunks it no matter how far he is from the basket.

I've been reading up on Bobby Jones a lot since you brought him up earlier Warhead and he does sound great.

3 other guys I like:

Will Blaylock PG from Iowa State (He would be the perfect back up PG for years, is a great defender like Donnel and has a 40 inch standing vertical leap! He could even develop into a starter if we wanted to go small)

Steven Smith

Brandon Bowman (athletic defensive guy who could really turn out to be much better than he played in Georgetown.)

That is the reason to go with an international player....they were taught the fundamentals of basketball....not just the fundamentals of the NBA. You dont have to be a good passer or defender over on this continent....I cant wait until the quality of the NBA goes up again. The NBA has proven year after year that they cant play on a world stage because they have too many stars that cant pass or defend due to selfishness, pettyness, arrogance and inconvenience.

I'll have to disagree with you there and that wasn't really my point at all.

European players are notoriously bad passers and defenders because defense isn't stressed in Europe and for the big "Nowitzki" types neither is passing.

In fact one of the things that the scouts love about Andrea is that he is a defensive presence in Europe which is a rarity. One of the things they knock him for though is his horrible passing.

There are differences between the International game and the NBA Game, the international game allows you to play zones which cover up for a lack of athleticness. Such as one that lets you put four guys in the paint who just stand there.

Anyway it sounds like you may or may not be bigoted towards the NBA because of a few bad games or news reports you saw in the late 90's early 2000's, but if you have any doubt that the best basketball by a mile (fundamentally and athletically) is played in the USA just watch the Summer Games.

We will destroy every team there is - it isn't even going to be funny.

A big that can shot the 3 is something I have been waiting for us to get. Lets get this kid.
