Suns are getting less back in return but they are doing this to cut salary. Robert Sarver, their owner, is a real cheapass and he doesn't want to get to the luxury tax threshold especially with Diaw and Barbos a needing extenstions soon. Lewis gets less than 10 million next year and has a player option the following year, which he will probably decline, in order to get the max from some team. Fortson's contract expires after next saeson.

Yeah I read somethign in the Wash Post hinting at Marion being traded... I think that is very very stupid... for the suns.

It's obviously being considered out of necessity with Barbosa's and Diaw's extensions coming up (expect a huge deal for Diaw). As I explained above, Robert Sarver is a real cheapskate. No wonder why Bryan Colangelo got the hell out of there.

I very seriously doubt EG is "content" with what we have. I think he just knows that he isn't going to be able to significantly upgrade the roster by trading Jamison or Haywood so he'd rather just sit on the chemistry.

I agree that Jamison can't be traded - there is no way we will get value for him - at least until his max contract is up.
I've said it before - and I'll say it again with even more certainty after hearing Arenas' comments - Haywood is gone.
We can significantly improve our roster by trading him because he is valuable as a backup and his contract is very attractive.
If Haywood isn't traded by weds. I would be surprised, if he isn't traded before preseason I will post a thread saying how wrong I was. From what I can see and hear Gilbert can't stand Haywood anymore and I don't blame him.

Wait what did Gil say about brenda??

Wait what did Gil say about brenda??
Well it was more of an inference - but he said he wants to be surrounded by players with the same goal as him, a championship.
Then he went on to say that EJ was an integral part of his vision for the organization and the column mentioned that there were "members" of the locker room who would be glad to see Eddie Jordan go.
He said he didn't want to play with anyone just trying to pick up a paycheck - i think if you comb through the starters - and the fact that Jared Jeffries also spoke about having a similar conversation with Gil - I don't think its too difficult to figure out who Gilbert was talking about.
Gilbert? (obviously not)
Caron? (I seriously doubt it)
Jared (Well seeing as JJ talked about speaking with Gil on the subject, I'd have to say no)
Tawn? (Well seeing as he is Gilbert's mentor and probably best friend on the team... no.)
Hmm, who does that leave? Oh yeah... Brenda... the one who said he would be happy to be in a "different situation" during last season.
I guess it may be jumping to conclusions, but Gilbert was hardly veiling his comments with anything more than a fine layer of tactfulness.

I see what you're saying, makes sense. I mean this guy got in a fight with Etan this past season, was one of his poems really that bad?? Just like all of you I want to see Gilbert get exactly what he wants. I never want to see him in another teams jersey. I've always supported Ernie and Eddie...

Yeah but he won't do enough to replace Marion. The only thing he does better is shoot the ball.

seems like we should be at least in the trade talk for a player like him. he brings so much to a team defensively, and i feel that we are one good defensive player away from being a huge contendor (assuming that the league re-instates the rule that traveling is called on lebron james). we could give haywood, etan, and jeffries or hayes along with our first to them for him. the second round is so loaded that there might be an impact player in the second round that might not be a big dropoff from the first round player we would select.

This looks like a great trade for both sides. Suns a guy whos good on both offense and defense. Sonics get 2 good scorers in Marion and Barbosa and a high pick as well.

Trading Barbosa is stupid. The guy took over several games in the playoffs while Marion became the invisible man.
