Can someone who is an ESPN Insider post the articles near the bottom of the page that are titled "Arenas May want to opt out of Wizards Contract" and/or "Arenas Could leave in 2008 if upset with team's progress"
Thanks

Wait a second, aren't we in, like, 2006?
Relax. It's a slow time for sports. Still 6 weeks away from NFL. The two local MLB teams suck. Nothing else to talk about.

Arenas is just sick of guys like Haywood starting on his team. He is a competitor and doesn't want guys who are just there to pick up a paycheck when he is planning on cutting his future contract smaller to attract more talent to the team in the future.
As far as EJ - I would be so dissapointed in Ernie and Abe if he wasn't resigned, I just couldn't understand it. EJ is tied with Scott Skiles as far as I'm concerned as the best young up and coming coaches in the league.
I'm so sick of rehiring Phil Jackson, Larry Brown, and Pat Riley. I know they have been successful but I'd like people to stop acting like when those three guys die no other B-ball coach will ever be successful again.
I'm glad that Arenas is saying this, I wish he had called out Haywood personally but I guess that might hurt his trade value. I think Arenas has said enough now though and I hope he doesn't keep going on and on about it - especiallly when all the Stephen A. Smiths and Mike and Mikes start calling him up to talk about it.

Grunfeld's arrogance better not come back to bite us in the ass.

If the Wiz let Arenas get away, I might stop following this team altogether. But Arenas should temper down the talk a little bit, I mean..it is him who missed those two HUGE free throws to let us lose Game 6 like that. Sounds like Jeffries is gone too with his comment about how Washington has a chance to build something big around Arenas.

Yeah Bayou, I found Jeffries's comments very interesting. Why didn't he say "We?" I think we're S&T'ing him.

I like the threat but I don't think it'll come to that. Am sure EG is working on something. But it's nice to know Arenas is not content with just contending for SE division title :)

Who can blame a guy for wanting to be on the team moving in the right direction?
I would expect him to tell his team this so they get off thier asses and get to work like he does.
If this was a message to management (EG), then its silly. EG has been on the ball. If a player wants to back a coach, that's fine but when they start saying if they dont do this I dont want to be here, that isnt usually good.
Gil is not the GM, Ernie is. Its would disrespectful for Gil to act like he is running the show when EG has done so well. Specially if he does it publically.
I can only hope this is Gil and EG working together behind the seen to put pressure on Abe to either put up or sell the team so someone that will.
I hate this time of year.

Guard could leave in 2008 if upset with team's progress
By John N. Mitchell
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
June 26, 2006
Desiring to play for a championship contender, Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas will seriously consider opting out of his contract in 2008 if he doesn't feel the franchise is committed to building a title-caliber team, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation.

We have him 3 more years including this up coming season.
Sorry Gil, its not every player (Wade) that comes into a team with the best player in the league over the last 10 years (Shaq) and an experienced Hall of Fame coach ( Riley )

EJ is not Riley and no one has a Shaq.
His bitching is unwarrented. EG is a great GM, thats the person he needed to line up with not attach.

Agree with what you say about the free throws as well. Three of the series losses were by a basket or less. It could've gone either way. Just needed a defensive stop and didnt get it.
I have total confidence in EG. He has worked wonders with this team the last couple of years. He wont make a big mistake and let Gilbert get away.

I think it is Avery. While he did choke a bit in the Finals, I was really surprised with his acumen. It is debatable however. We do not know what would happen if you gave EJ or Skiles the talent on the Mavs roster.

Get off Gil's back about that. He feels bad enough about it. If we had defense during the game from a real post presence not a decent bench player like Haywood and a bad bench player like Etan then we might have had a chance without depending on Gil all the time...He does alot of clutch stuff for us....It is not easy to be counted on for everything all the time.....MJ was surrounded by talent when he played for the Bulls....because the owner cared about getting the best talent.
I hope Gil forces EG's hand and makes him get 2 real post players....unless Blatche is ready then we only need one. I think it is great that he said what every fan has been thinking and noticing that we did take a step back this year. I would not mind Brown coming here but if it means losing Gil......keep EJ. We need Gil more than a HOF coach.

I thought exactly the same thing. This is 2006, for cripes sake. What's going to be happening in 2008, is hardly relevent. And what makes anyone think this team won't have won a championship or close to it by then. We're not the Knicks!
This was a huge non-story.
