I thought this was pretty amusing from the Chicago Tribune: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-060706bearsfanview,1,1761750.story

Jay Lundry of Denver predicts a great year ahead.
One point I want to make to the world--the Bears do NOT need a second receiver! Why does everyone continue to be so blind?! Twenty years ago the Washington Redskins had a trio of receivers named "the posse". It was comprised of Gary Clark, Ricky Sanders and Art Monk. Well let me introduce you to the new "posse" in the NFL--Bears receivers Mark Bradley, Bernard Berrian and Airese Currie.
Berrian and Bradley possess great speed, concentration, terrific ball skills, and very soft hands. Many of the NFL's top corners will find it hard to cover them every play for the entire game. Both of these future All-Pros remind me a lot of Sanders and Clark. Then we have our slot receiver, Currie, the fifth rounder. With his speed, he will burn a lot of top DBs in the league. Currie has all of the same abilities as Berrian and Bradley, but is the serious deep threat and big game-breaker that Ark Monk was. We couldn't see this last year (at least not very much) due to injuries. However, if you all remember, Bradley was beginning to break out when he went down and Berrian was awesome and helped spark the offense when he came back.I don't think he remembers the Posse quite right, but you have to appreciate the sentiment.

Hmm.
I don't think Bears fans know much about the Posse, but ookay.
While we're talking about the Bears, I think Mark Bradley will be an excellent receiver.

Yeah, it's kind of flattering that of all the great trios of wide receivers he could have picked, the WR corps that stands out in his mind was the Posse.
Never mind the fact that the Bears wide receivers couldn't burn a DB with napalm and a flamethrower.

If Rex Grossman stays healthy Bradley could put up good numbers.
This group seems second rate to make the comparison.

Odd that he'd neglect to mention the team's best wideout, and one who most accurately resembles Art Monk.

I think he has it a little mixed up the new possee is Randle El, Moss, Lloyd :D but, I understand what he's trying to say. The truth is the only receiver they have is Muhammad(sp) no matter how he tries to slice or dice it. Bears is going to have to rely on that defense to win games even though I think they were exposed a little in the playoff game against the Panthers.

OK, I know more than your average Joe about football, the teams, and key players...I could not tell you a single factoid about any of these players. But if calling them the posse makes da Bears fans feel better, more power to 'em.

I think we can fairly honestly say Clark and Sanders weren't all that great on their own, but were products of a great system, an offensive line that consistently gave quarterbacks as much time as they needed to throw the ball, and a strong running game.

Your comments regarding Gary Clark are absolutely false! You need to go back and look at some film of Gary Clark doing his thing. He was a great receiver, with or without Monk. Nobody - Santana Moss included - could make more out of a button hook or WR screen than Gary Clark. He beat people deep so badly he made them look sick. If he had played longer, it would not be a stretch to think that he would be voted into the HOF some day.

Thats what I was thinking, where was the Muhammed - Monk reference? They are the only ones that are actually a little bit similar at least in how they look.
Even if Chicago had the new posse, which they dont, they dont have Theismann, Williams or Rypien throwing the ball to them, its Grossman until he gets injured in the pre season or week 3, then Orton. Not exactly comparable.

The Posse is our thing.
The Bears need to go find the next "Monster of the Midway" or whatever lame ass monikier they had on their team.

The Bears will be very good this year. If they can get an ounce of offense, they'll win their division easily.
