Sleepers, flops: Bell, Jones head the lists

Flops

The players most likely to be flops are often injured or ineffective starting running backs. They may post poor stats because of inadequate surrounding talent, dismal offensive system or simply inferior play. Starting fantasy running back flops chosen in the first few rounds hurt fantasy teams the most. They are the hardest to replace during the season.

The most likely candidates are Carnell Williams, Edgerrin James, Domanick Davis, Ronnie Brown, Kevin Jones, Willis McGahee, Julius Jones, Jamal Lewis, Corey Dillon, Fred Taylor and Reggie Bush.

Julius Jones has missed 11 games in his first two seasons and had a spotty college career. ...

He lists Tatum Bell as a sleeper, when Bell hasn't played a full season yet. Then he calls Jones a flop because he hasn't played a full season yet. WTF???

In his defense, Jones has been injured far too much to really show his stuff. This is the make or break year for him, and if Dallas O-Line can improve even slightly (and they will) I have no doubt he has the ability to be a 1,000 yard back in the NFL.

Bell has missed three games, and Jones 11. That's a huge difference. Plus, look where Bell is running.

I like Jones, being a ND guy. However, I took him with my 4th round pick last year and got burned. I'm going to avoid him at all costs this year.

I think that was his point, he is always injuried. And his OL IMO has not improved that much, and may have even stepped back some.

In today's NFL if a backs goal is to crack 1000 for the first time....well

also look at the differences of OL, and the YPC avg. and number of 100 yard games.

I dont really see how we have stepped back. We improved at RT, our most troublesome spot, we get both Rivera and Adams back healthy, and both are Pro-Bowl caliber players when healthy. Al Johnson has finally decided to beef up after 3 years and will be a better run blocker if nothing else. Kyle Kosier, at this point, is not really a step down from LA as Allen was a stone block at RG last year, no mobility whatsoever.

The fact is, our O-Line was not too bad until Flo went down

That quote made me realize I ended a statement with a "?".

Anyway, I'm probably going to take a shot at Bell this year if it's prudent. All I'm worried about is this; how good can the guy be if Shanahan keeps threatening him with Ron Dayne? I just hope by the time my league draft comes about, Bell's gotten his Turk out and takes the top spot in Denver.

He's right about one thing. If one of your rb's is a flop your in trouble!

Most things that I have read state that Fabini is being looked at as a backup and Pettiti is still the starter.

Your line could be better but there are still a ton of question marks out there. Johnson might be better having beefed up but he also might lose some of his quickness which is what made him so good in college.

--------

As for Bell being looked at as a sleeper and Jones a bust, you also have to look at the fact that Mike Anderson was traded so Bell looks to be the #1 guy. Jones has Marion Barber sniffing at his heels so he could lose carries. Jones may end up being a better option when all is said and done but right now Bell is a much safer pick.

SO basically, you're admitting that he sucks.:dallasuck

Some of these don't make much sense.

I highly doubt Dominick Davis' O-Line can get worse and with the way Shanahan's assistants have installed that running scheme in Atlanta, there's a good chance that Davis will have a great year.

Ronnie Brown? Well, he's got a year's worth of experience under his belt after having a solid rookie year and if Culpepper is healthy, he's got a much better QB.

Carnell Williams? Same as Brown, except that their major weak spot was right guard last year and Davin Joseph will most likely be much better than Anthony Davis was last season. Plus, they'll have a healthy Michael Clayton to go with Galloway and Alex Smith.

That's the truth. Two years ago I had drafted Peyton Manning and Antonio Gates, but I picked Jamal Lewis with my first pick, thinking he would only be suspended for a game or two, but he missed four and I missed the playoffs. You should have seen some of my higher scores though, it was ridiculous.

I be glad to explain it to you.

1. Adams is coming off a seasons ending injury, he is inconsistant at best, and losing Allen (who covered his mistakes) is going to hurt him more than Poke fans will realize

2. You lost Larry Allen, true he wasn't as great as he was five years ago, but he was still your best OL-man last season. Kyle Kosier is not his equal

3. Fabini gives up sacks, he ranked in the middle to lower have of tackles last season... and with slow on the draw Bledsoe as QB... that ain't good

4. Rivera has only gotten older

5. You will be starting 2 new OL, even with a great OL coach, and talent it takes a season or more for an OL to come together to reach their peak. Dallas has neither a great OL coach, or great Talent

6. Even with Adams in the line up last year, The OL gave up sacks, and the running game was still below average.

If Dominic Rhodes claims the full-time role vacated by Edgerrin James, he'll be a bargain.

Does anyone really see this happening?
