I'd appreciate feedback on the trade I've been offered:

Carson Palmer, Seahawks Defense and TE Ben Troupe for RB Ronnie Brown.

My line up is (twelve team league):

Starters:
Green, Trent QB KC
Brown, Ronnie RB
Tomlinson, LaDainian RB SD
Harrison, Marvin WR IND
Ward, Hines WR PIT
Gates, Antonio TE SD
Stover, Matt K BAL
Colts, DST DST IND

Reserves:
Vick, Michael QB ATL
Taylor, Fred RB JAC
Turner, Michael RB SD
Clayton, Mark WR BAL
Houshmandzadeh, T.J. WR CIN
Lewis, Marcedes TE JAC

Clearly I don't need Ben Troupe. The Seahawks defense is perhaps a slight upgrade over the Colts, but is the upside of Palmer over Green or Vick (assuming he comes back healthy) worth the downgrade at the RB position? I have a capable back up in Fred Taylor but injuries are a concern with him.

My gut says no. Ronnie Brown is a real loss, and there is a question mark over good Palmer will be when he comes back, assuming he is ready to start the season opener. I picked my two RBs in the draft first over QBs and WRs, and I think I should stick with this. Am I wrong?

I think the big dilemna here is that you're dealing with 2 unknowns in this situation. Obviously, the issue is who is more worth the trade, Ronnie Brown or Carson Palmer? The unknowns are a) Will Culpepper get into a good enough groove in Miami to allow Brown to see a lot less 8-man fronts? and b) Will Carson Palmers injury prevent him from having a repeat career season like last year?

Personally, I think Palmer is the easier choice for me, but I think if your gut says to hold on to Brown, then just go with it.

Hmm, I would think no as the trade stands now. Palmer will likely be an upgrade over Green but Green is good enough. If you make the trade you have NO backup at the RB spot. I'd try and make him give you Palmer and a RB3 type running back (starter but not great back) in return for Brown - Maybe with you throwing in Vick to sweeten the pot in order to get a better RB.

I would keep what you have drafted. It seems you have a lot of confidence in Ronnie Brown. If you can get a decent RB in addition to Palmer, then the trade may make sense for you. Otherwise keep wht you have - which is a pretty good team.

CaliforniaSkin offers a decent counter-proposal....I would do his deal.

...but I would not pull the trigger on the deal you were originally offered.

He has McGahee and Kevin Jones. Vick and Brown for Palmer and McGahee may be worth a try? Jones has potential in Detroit but was such a bust last year.

You are right, loosing Brown without a capable starter at RB in the trade would change a very strong RB situation to a weak one.

I'm tempted to wait 'til the season and see if Vick can get a couple of big games under his belt, because currently people are jaded with his lack of production, but know he has huge upside.

If you could swing this I'd say definitely go for it. Green has been a good fantasy QB the last few years, but I think it's a product of Al Saunders's offense. He's left with Eddie Kennison, Samie Parker, and Dante Hall as receivers, and I don't have much faith in that without an offensive genius like Saunders. Having said that, the guy would have to be a pretty big Vick fan to throw in McGahee to get him added to the deal.

Your team looks capable as it stands right now. I'd pull the trigger for either of his RBs if you can make it work. Personally I'm a little higher on Jones than McGAhee. With Martz in Detroit, I think Jones will be more involved in the offense. Kitna and the Martz passing attack should open up more space for the running game and Jones should catch a lot of passes. He's got real potential as a receiver.
