View Full Version : Worst movie of all-time?

I had to come up with a topic for a new thread just so I could post about my "Mick being as queer as a footbal bat" thread/poll. Whoever edited it . . . :applause:, that was some funny ****!

Seriously, what is the worst movie of all-time in your mind? The only thing that comes to my mind at the moment is "Freedomland" which I just watched. The moment the ending credits started rolling, I though,"Well, that movie sucked!" Any others?

The worst movie I ever saw was the 2002 Roberto Benigni adaptation of 'Pinocchio.' Ommygosh...the dub job was also hilariously awful because they rushed it into theatres--at the time I saw it I didn't know it was dubbed, so we were screaming at the movie theatre people to fix the sound track so at least it looked reasonable when they told us that was the way it came and it was dubbed and rushed into theatres.

And that was the least of the movie's problems. It got a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes...lol.

Alexander.

Seriously, how do you make a movie that bad when the subject matter is that good (the MFer basically conquered the known world by age 20 and the movie is easily set up for lots of Braveheart style battle sequences) AND you have both SIR Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie.

Those responsible should serve hard time.

The Replacements.

Not really, but damn. If you're gonna make a freaking movie about the Redskins, fork out the royalty money and let me see the damn logo already. And if you're worried about ratings in Dallas and New York.....well, that just gives me another reason not to like Hollywood.

Just for the record, the Redskins' logo looks like this: :logo:

Man that's pretty. :)

The New World.

Priviledged enough (extreme sarcasm) to see the 2nd ever screening of the movie and it absolutely sucked. Put me to sleep. Great visuals but enough boredom to make your eyes bleed. Saw a preview of it tonight and was reminded of it's awfulness at a friends before watching Wedding Crashers and I thought to myself.."Maybe I'll buy that movie so I can put myself to sleep everynight without trying". Seriously, don't rent it..it BLOWS.

Torn between Battlefield Earth and Starship Troopers. Both movies lacked any form of decent directing, the scripts were laughable at best, neither had a leading actor who could actually act, and apparently neither had people involved who had actually bothered to read the books from which the movies were based.

I take that back...the director of Starship Troopers admited to reading the first few chapters, hated what he read, so destroyed the book in his movie, yet felt that giant farting beetles would be a great addition

I'll add one . . . anything that Tim Allen stars in. Not his voice-overs in Disney Films. I mean anything he, himself, plays in.

"Galaxy Quest" I asked the lady at the counter if I could have my money back. She laughed and I told her that I was serious(not really, but still). She got the joke and said,"What possessed you to rent it in the first place?" I told her it was from a coworker. Needless to say, my fellow employee got an earful the next day. Damn, that movie sucked! To this day, I WILL NOT spend money to watch a Tim Allen movie. Period!

"Night" sucked but I still laugh at Drop Dead Fred...it is stupid but still pretty funny. I would say this movie called S.A.M. that I somehow saw. I am sure someone is going to freak out but I thought The Patriot with Mel Gibson was just awful. It attempted to channel that Braveheart type emotion and plot and failed miserable.

That's a tough one to argue with. Alicia Silverstone was years past her cute Aerosmith video/Clueless days and was definitely one of those tragic hollywood cases of somebody who bursts onto the scene then fails to get any hotter/more talented.

However, I have to go with "Summer Catch". I gave it a shot because it's a baseball movie and, hey, it's got Jessica Biel. But Freddie Prinze Jr. can ruin anything, Jessica Biel's character was so intolerable it doesn't matter how hot she is (I know, it's blashpemy to say so, but you would understand if you saw it), and the ended not only ruined it, it ruined everything that came within a 50 mile radius of it.

For me it doesn't come down to a single movie. I don't watch enough of them to really be able to single out a particular title. There is a category of movies that I avoid like (all 3 forms of) the Black Plague....

"Stupedies". You know them. Those movies intended to be comedies, but whose entire premise is so ridiculous that they're not worth anything. Generally they "star" some oddball comedian like Adam Sandler, the Wayans Brothers, Jim Carey or somebody else of that ilk. Their plot line (when there is one) is so awful it's nauseating to think somebody bought (or wrote) the sceenplay (Clerks, Jack*ss, etc...). So far as I'm concerned that entire genre and every movie in it fall under the heading "Worst Movies of All-Time". :2cents:

The Replacement Killers is pretty horrible too. Really, a lot of newer movies could be vying for the title of worst ever.

As to Napoleon Dynamite, I can't really flame you, because it appeals to a certain sense of humor, but I thought it was somewhat clever. Nowhere close to the best ever, but I don't think you can call it the worst, even though it doesn't really go anywhere.

Also, any Nicolas Cage movie, other than Leaving Las Vegas and Face-Off. He sucks as an actor.

Like in South Park,

One of the top 10 grossing films of all time.
It was nominated and won several oscars, including best picture and best actor.

And it's my personal favorite movie. :silly:

And it gets my vote as the worst movie ever. Sorry, bro.

Edit: I'd like to add that I find "Zoolander" to be hilarious, as well as thematically similar to Forrest Dump.

O man... so many. Here is my top 5 in no particular order:

1: Syrianna. I hate George Clooney. This marked the day that i stopped watching any movie with Clooney in it. I thought he ruined Batman... but jeeze. Why o why did i watch this movie. Synopsis: nothing.... nothing... nothing... clooney gets his fingernails ripped out... nothing .... nothing... nothing.. clooney dies in a bombing that has nothing to do with clooney... end of movie.

2: Mortal Kombat 2: Annihilation. Why o why did raiden cut his hair??? And the end beastality fight. Speechless. I lost braincells watching this.

3: Duece Biggalo 2. The scene at the end of the movie was by far one of the stupidest/grossest things ive ever seen. If you have seen it... U know what im talking about.

4: It's Pat. Wow... i can not believe i actually watched that whole thing. I must have been drunk. An entire movie based on one stupid ( one of the worst) SNL sketches ever, that ends in a cliffhanger.

5: Red Dawn. What threat is a school of students to a coalition of armies with real weapons and training? And why must they chant for their school throughout the movie? Though the opening teacher scene is worth a few laughs, watching this movie the whole way through is just torture.

Hmmm...

1. Ok, Pirahna 2 is bad, just like Pirahna 3-5, microwave massacre, Plan9 from outer space, etc...blah

2. I happen to love Starship Troopers! Fantastic SFX, subversive undercurrent, BAD acting. ST is nowhere near the 2nd worst movie ever.

3. Haven't seen the new version of "Poseiden" but I heard from a reliable source that it was dull and unecessary. I'll take your word for it.

4. I could not agree more. Gladiator is vastly overrated. Likely, the worst film that the Great Ridley Scott has ever made.

For the Record, i absolutely HATE X3! I thought the film was an abomination in light of the excellence of the prequel. A horrid cash-grab and a backhanded insult to all those who truely love the X-Men...every bit as bad as "Batman and Robin". You know, the one with Clooney and his nipples.

I agree with the New World- I saw the preview before I bought it and was excited to see it only to be confused ass %#&$ about how they could make this movie so terrible. Rocky Horror Picture Show - So, fans have managed to turn this into something worth watching. But it's worth watching for all the people who come in crazy costumes, the games, the inside jokes, and the objects flying through the theater. However, the movie in and of itself is a completely unfunny, boring mess.

Me Myself and Irene - To be fair, I couldn't finish this.

Pearl Harbor - No worst movie list would be complete without a selection from Michael Bay's catalogue.

P.S. - I can't believe someone mentioned Red Dawn, and pointed out aspects of the plot that were unbelieveable. If you're going to criticise a movie, I think your criticism should include a few statements that a fan of the movie would disagree with. Red Dawn was like an Ed Wood movie; It has enough unintentional humor to eliminate it from being considered the absolute worst.

Anyways, I've seen RHPS, both on stage, and in a movie theater, multiple times for each. You can consider me a low level fan. I'm just saying that nothing that makes that experience enjoyable has the tiniest thing to do with the movie.

Try watching it sometime without the theater audience. If possible, try to forget all the little in-jokes you know. Seriously dude, it's the worst movie ever. Nothing else is even close.

P.S. - I can't believe someone mentioned Red Dawn, and pointed out aspects of the plot that were unbelieveable. If you're going to criticise a movie, I think your criticism should include a few statements that a fan of the movie would disagree with. Red Dawn was like an Ed Wood movie; It has enough unintentional humor to eliminate it from being considered the absolute worst.[/QUOTE]

I give up. :silly: U guys suck. This was my oppinion of the worst movies ive seen.Sure there are worse movies, but i chose not to see them. Therefor you can only name the worst movie ever that include movies you Have seen.

My top (bottom) 3. In no particular order.

Armageddon

If you can get past the most ridiculous plot in movie history, Armageddon was actually quite entertaining. Some may not be able to get past the plot, I understand, but bottom 3 of all time?? Come on now...its got to at least have some "that's so bad its funny" value, right?? :paranoid:

My least favorite movie is Zoolander. It's just stupid.

Zoolander is hilarious!!

Thin Red Line.

I agree...The Thin Red Line was TERRIBLE. Slowest movie ever...He could have cut out 2 hours from that movie, and the plot would not have been effected. Awful.

Forrest Gump!!

Bland, contrived, and insulting to it's audience.

What??? Forrest Gump is in my top 10 BEST of all time....

(Well, maybe top 20)

Worst movie ever...close the thread. After watching this movie, I contemplated giving up movies forever...it almost ruined movies for me for good. The mental scarring is still there....TERRIBLE.

I can't believe some of these movies that you guys have watched, yet alone hated. Take this one for instance, I knew it would suck . . . so I never even bothered to watch it. And someone else mentioned "You got Served"? You got served for spending money on the ****ing movie in the first place.

I think you're dead wrong on RHPS. It's entertaining from beginning to end. You don't need an audience reciting lines or throwing things to enjoy it, either.

I must cast my vote for "Rhinestone."

Sylvester Stallone as a country music star? Who was responsible for THAT?
Who OK'd THAT?
Who was the damned fool who FINANCED that?

I think that movie showed part of Dolly Parton tit once... Other than that, yes, it was horrible.

Rounding out my top five are Twister, The Big Hit, The Pest and Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls.

I totally disagree with you. Fahrenheit 9/11 is one of the best movies I ever saw.

The only reason the F-911 didn't make my list of worst movies is that it didn't even really feel like a movie. A movie has to be somewhat cinematic for me to even consider it the worst movie of all time.

Also, for the record, I'm not a republican, and I don't support G.W. Bush. I say this because I just said I hated F-911, and some simple minded person is bound to be thinking, "that guy must be one of those bush lovers."

gotta agree with JRock here. RHPS is great in it's own way. First off, it was a play first, and a great one which was why they made it into a movie. People hated it, made fun of it thus making it a cult classic. RHPS is an experience that every movie goer should do. I believe the rules, and the items you need are posted somewhere on the internet. Plus, if you are witty, you can try and throw in your own commentary. If it's good, you'll notice people starting to use it at future showings.

Hands down Maria Full of Grace. It took drama too a whole new level, there wasn't a single smile in the entire movie. For those of you who haven't heard about it, it's a movie in spanish with english subtitles about a 16 yr old girl who becomes a mule and has to go to America to deliver the goods. She becomes pregnant along the way, and it's just one depressing moment after another.
