View Full Version : Who has impressed you in the Summer League

Obviously we have all been encouraged by the play of Blatche, me mostly from reports of his play since I haven't seen his best performances with my own eyes.

I was wondering, among those of you who have seen summer league play, which draft picks and/or 2nd year players have impressed you?

For me, the #1 guy has to be Shannon Brown of the Cavs, he really looks good and I think he will be giving Larry a run for his money at the SG position, if he doesn't play PG right away.

He seems to have the temperment to play PG though - I just love his crazy athelticism paired with his defense and passing, plus he can shoot.

Also Gerald Green is looking more and more like T-Mac, but he still gets bumped off his shot too easily by contact in the paint, but still players like him don't come along every year - I can't believe he fell to 18 last year any more than I can believe that Andray Blatche fell to us at 48.

Oh well Brown and Green are the 2 that have impressed me the most, what about you guys?

edit: Of course everything I've been reading from impartial discriminating sources says AJ is playing his ass off and doing really well, but since I haven't seen him with my own eyes...

Marcus Williams is looking like the playmaker stud he was at UConn.

On the other hand Shelden Williams is as unimpressive as I thought he would be. 5th pick in the draft my ASS.

They couldn't trade him for the 15th pick in next years draft the way that chump is playing.

Blatche...who cares about them other players on other teams.

I guess just me? I'm a basketball junkie - it is because I am addicted to the development of young players in the NFL and NBA that I think about this stuff.

Sorry. :whoknows:

Blatche is such a beast though. Imagine if he had played at Syracuse last year, they would have won the NCAA's by this year at the very least. None of these 1st round picks can even come close to guarding him.:silly:

He certainly seems to have that natural point guard instinct - just always have to worry which Marcus you are getting, the one who can nail 3s and put up 10 assists or the one who gets fat right before his workouts and steals laptop computers.

The whole system of evaluating talent nowadays is amazing. Teams pass on Marcus Williams because he's supposedly carrying around too much "body fat." Did teams not watch him play at UConn against some of the best players in the nation? He's the real deal. Now you want to say he's got too much "body fat"? Gotta be kidding me...

Wizards should have drafted him...
Big mistake...

I agree with much of what you say except for the fact that it isn't the bodyfat, or even that they are worried that they will be going around the basketball arena stealing computers - it is a prediction of what may happen. A guy who can't stay in shape for his NBA workouts worries people - what will happen half way through the season?

How about the offseason next year, when he is a millionaire, will he be able to stay in shape then?

Do you not remember such studs as Omar Cook? I just saw him in the D-League. How about guys like Michael Olowakandi?

I'm sure the Eagles are happy they signed TO to that contract. In the NBA a first round pick is a very very valuable thing.

As far as the Wiz drafting him, come on man... you are going to need to do better than that - we have one of, if not the best PG under 24 in the NBA. The last thing we need is Marcus Williams.

Thats just my opinion.
