i sure wish this forum was more popular...but anyways

in my league we play with 1 defensive player, I'm thinking about Sean Taylor or maybe Ed Reed. Who do you guys think would be good?

One way to the forum more popular, and get more resposes, is to give all relevent information reguarding your question ;) .

In your case, we really need to know your scoring system. Most def scoring systems place a heavy emphasis on tackles, making LB more valuable than FS.

We can't help much without that kind of info.

Ed Reed, Troy Palamalu, or Sean Taylor.

Also thinking D'Angelo Williams, Marcus Washington.

sean taylor is a beast on the field, but he doesnt rack up the stats like ed reed does. stats are whats important in fantasy football.

If you only get 1 IDP you definitely want a LB. Especially if you get points for tackles. I would look at K. Bullock, D. Edwards, J. Vilma, R. Lewis or A. Davis. If it's a keeper league lean towards Vilma or even Tatupu. R. Lewis has probably been the greatest IDP ever, but has declined the last few years because of injuries and the switch to the 3-4. They are now going back to the 4-3 which will help Lewis if he can stay healthy. The Jets are moving to the 3-4 which could have an impact on Vilma, though he looked like the next coming of Lewis his first couple years. If you give me your scoring system I can rank a top ten. I've been in an IDP league since 1994. We start 3 DL 3 LB and 3 DB.

Solid advice all around, I couldn't agree more. Keep in mind, too, that you can usually find good IDPs in the free agent pool.

I have to be honest here guys. IF the new additions help like they should with the Ravens, Ray Lewis could very well be on his way to being the best LB in the game today. I wouldn't object to you taking him as your DP.

Our scoring system is as follows and then I'll list the top ten scorers in our league.
Solo tackle=2
Assisted tackle=1
sack=4
Interception=5
Safety=2
Defensive TD=10
Int. return yds=1 pt. every 10 yds.

These are weekly averages:
Z. Thomas 20.1 Getting up there in years, somewhat injury prone
J. Vilma 19.2 Moving to 3-4
D. Edwards 18.2 32 yrs old but solid
L. Fletcher 17.9
M. Peterson 17.5
C. June 17.4 plays D. Brooks role in Indy D
K. Bulluck 16.9 Young stud, a bit of a down year from 2004
N. Barnett 16.4 Good young LB. A.J. hawk could cut into tackles
A. Pierce 16.4 I'm sure you're familiar w/ him. Did get hurt
A. Davis 15.8 Most people don't know him. Plays for Cle.

As you can see they are all LB. The next on the list was C. Tillman a DB at 15.7. DL don't even come close. Don't count on TD or safeties in your analysis. Tackles are the most predictble stat that produces the most points.
