Does anyone else absolutely despise John Gruden? I absolutely hated the dude after his comments on the Alstott debacle. It was total bliss to see he and the bucs fall on that glorious January evening. Cant wait to do it again this year...

Karma...it's a [insert word for a female dog here] ain't it? Gruden's predictable. He needs to check his ego. And if we didn't have a HOF coach I'd have to defend the fact that he was the youngest coach to win a SB, but I don't have to do that 'cuz we got Joe!
HTTR!

I hate it that he won a Super Bowl because now, no matter what he does, he'll be considered a genius who was the difference in a making a team into a winner. There should be a scientific name for this phenomena, something like BillickusFatheaditus

i don't see how anybody can hate chuckie (who aren't raider fans). he's a hard nose coach who does things right. he's a football historian, respects the game and respects those who came before him. after going through the spurrier years, i think it is impossible to hate the coach who is the complete opposite spurrier.
did he luck out by inheriting a team that tony dungee should have coached to the super bowl? yes, but he still lead them to the championship, and lets not forget that he took a "washed up qb" to the AFC Championship and should have won if that stupid tuck rule never existed. he's a good coach who works his tail off and his players love him because they mutually respect eachother. my 2 cents.

I've always liked Gruden but he did have some stupid things to say last year. I still think he is a heck of a coach.

I don't mind him, except for the TB game last year. I wouldn't like him as a coach because he's brobably a bag of douch during practice. But aside from that, I like his funny comments during games.

well in that case, i can't fault you.
it's the people who want to rip him for his attitude and some of his remarks and then compare him to gibbs. meanwhile, people forget gibbs phantom hand shake with parcells two years ago. people just forget that these coaches invest so much into this stuff that they have to believe that they are right and that their team is better. gibbs looked like a jerk to some people for that whiffed hand shake, but honestly, he was pissed that he lost the game. their emotions are allowed to get the better of them, that's what makes them good coaches at times. and that's all that you can blame chuckie for.

I remember just before the TB playoff game (on TV)... they were showing this back-and-forth interview with Gibbs and Gruden. Gruden was just a douche about the whole thing... and had this smirk on his face and said "I saw the tape... and I believe Alstott got in" when everyone and their mother knows that Alstott fell short of the line. Thats all I was referring to.

for the record.... allstot did NOT get in.

gruden blows.... he is over rated and won a SB with Dungy's team. followed success has followed the direction of the dissipation of THAT one team. in other words.... grudens record will get continually worse and worse..... just watch.

Gruden has the tendency to lose his head in the heat of battle. I don't think he knows how to adjust when things don't go by the game plan. As far as the Alstott comment I think he was just backing up his team, what else can he say? I don't think he can hold a candle to Gibbs who for the most part is always cool under fire.

hey you cant hate him too much he does have DOUG WILLIAMS on his staff. yes the comment did piss me off but hey like it was stated before, what was he suppose to do, admit that his team was lucky or back his player? he chose the latter and i think kharma did get the best of him that day. in saying that the worst thing about the whole Buc organization is that *****clown Pittman4two that comes on here.

Absolutely.. Coaching wise it's hard to say that Gruden is a back coach. His teams always seem in contention. But to compare him to Gibbs is a big stretch =)

He's definitely better than say a Barry Switzer...I honestly would have put him over Cowher until last year. I hope to see him in the playoffs(obviously to punish him) for the next 10 years.

I like him always have, he is a really good football coach. Really enjoy it when he is miked on the sideline. I did not like his comments last year regarding both Skins games.

He is not a bad coach, and I don't think the "inheriting Tony Dungy's team" argument holds. Dungy got the Bucs to the playoffs before Gruden came in,a nd failed. Dungy got the Colts to the playoffs perenially I believe, and still fails. Gruden became like an x-factor and got the Bucs to the Super Bowl. I think the verdict is out on Tony Dungy, but he's become like a Schottenheimer, can win a lot, but never when it matters.

Gruden's comments were bad, Alstott didn't get in, but what's he supposed to say "I don't think he got in either, the Redskins should have won that game?" It isn't like Gibbs said much about the fumble in the playoff win over the Bucs, where Marcus claimed he wasn't touched while on the ground so he could pick up the ball, drop it again,a nd let Sean Taylor do the rest. I know by the rule of replay, it stands, and I'm glad it did, but you gotta think Marcus had contact.

Also, the phantom handshake with Parcells two years ago? Gibbs did go up to him and shake his hand, and then immediately turned. It's not like the 35-7 win over Dallas where Parcells didn't really want to shake Gibbs hand so Gibbs waved saying he doesn't have to.

he's one of those coaches who i am really glad coaches for other teams, but i still think he is very good at what he does.

I hope he gave Dungy his Super Bowl ring. Dungy had all of the defense set and the offense was coming along. Gruden comes in and I might be wrong but didn't Dungy's coaches all stay cause they knew they were on the brink of something special???

Dungy can't get it done. Look at Indy. They should have gotten Gruden over there last year so they could win a championship. Dungy can build teams but he can't lead them.

I like Gruden, mainly because of his sideline antics. I remember during one game someone had just scored and he stared for a second, did a face like he was swallowing back his own vomit, then said "Ok anyone up there got any f*cking ideas now?"

I think that Gruden is a good coach and he works really hard. He has turned around a team in about a years time. In the NFL that isn't always an easy thing to do. Also he won with team that didn't have the coaching know how to get into and win the super bowl until he got there. Dungy is a good coach, but he is the modern day marty shottenheimer in my opinion. He can get to the playoffs (except here, but wasn't really given a fair chance), but he can't win the big one.

I live down near Tampa and I can assure you that Gruden is a concrete head. He should get down on his knees and pray toward Indianapolis every day and thank the Lord for Tony Dungy putting together his superbowl team. This guy should be coaching high school somewhere.

The Smuckineers are in an elavator headed for the NFL basement.
