View Full Version : Parcells Not Happy With O-Line...

With his penchant for understatement, take a look at this statement:
"There are several positions where there's a degree of uncertainty, a couple on the offensive line, maybe one position particularly in the secondary," Parcells said. "We're going to have some transition at a couple of linebacker spots."
Well, we know who he means in the secondary, and they did draft a LB at #1...but when it comes to the O-Line he says a 'couple' of spots. Uh, oh.
There's other good info on the pukes in this article.

What's to dispute? Cowboys fans have long recognized the O-Line as being a huge question mark.

the Redskins are a deeper and more balanced team. I couldn't believe seeing Dallas ranked in the top 10 in some preseason picks.
I have friends that are Steelers fans and Eagles fans. Half of my family are Giants fans. They all think the Redskins are better than the Cowboys.

Dallas will be 8-8 at best w/o a good O-line!

WOW!
Thanks tr1.
All offseason, I had no idea that may be an issue with the Cowboys.
Well, hats off to Parcells stating the obvious, and you letting everyone know.

Too generous.
I was thinking 0-16 probably.

yeah, but he turned the ball over at times and was ineffective against the Redskins :)
that second game in December vs. the Skins defense made Bledsoe look like a tackling dummy

He played well enough to win the first game.
The second game? Well, not a player on the roster got off the bus for that one.

I think Dallas will be stellar on defense, especially against the run. Their safeties will come up and support, but have been known to give up big pass plays. I still see one of the top 10 defenses in the league.
On offense, T.O. will improve both the passing attack and will open holes for the RB's with his presence alone. When we play them Sean Taylor will need to know where T.O. is at all times, which will make him less effective against the run. Owens is also a very good blocker. Of course, upfront is a concern and neither of their RB's scare me. If Bledsoe stays healthy(he is one of the most durable QB's in the league), than Dallas will have avery effective offense. The wild card is Owens. If the team hits a rough patch, then watch out.

:applause: Exactly, I mentioned the loss of Larry Allen on the other thread, and some dumb Cowboy fan says, " well we got a smaller, quicker guy now w/ Kosier ". Which he doesn't even compare to Larry Allen
Now that Parcells has come out and stated it to the Media, All these Cowgirl fans are saying that they already knew that. Well if they knew that, why do they downplay it like its not an issue  :dallasuck
If Dallas loses 1 starter on the O-line, well, lets just say...BOMB! Down goes Bledsoe! I can't wait to see these guys and also hear all of the excuses, of which we've said all along.
I guess Dallas fans won't admit they really suck until we smash 35-7 again :D

Good to see he noticed the offensive line deficiencies. It was hard to tell given the off-season moves they made. I guess we'll see soon enough if those journeyman free agents they signed will pan out.

Yes Parcells said he had some uncertainty with a couple spots on the line coming into camp. There are a couple new players there
Isn't it expected that when you come to camp with new players at a couple spots you will be uncertain what will happen since you know they havent even practiced yet?
The quote did not infer that he knew what they brought to the table and he was uncertain if it was enough. Nor did he imply he was "not happy" Like the title of this thread said. Heck I thought there was a rule about editorializing titles
8. Please use descriptive and accurate subject titles for your posts. Adherence to this rule assists visitors in utilizing discretion when selecting content to read. It also serves to notify members if a particular topic has already been posted and discussed, and potentially prevents multiple threads being started on the same topic.
Be respectful of the fact that some people come to ExtremeSkins explicitly for latest Redskins news and content, provided without the editorializing of titles by members.

The O-line has been a question mark since Flo went down last year. The online has the potential to be good (Not great). But then skins fans love to talk about potential. But I digress, the Onine is a question mark and the team will go as far as the Oline will allow. one thing about Dallas though, they are a very deep team at almost all positions. Some good players probally won't make the team.

"My father used to have an expression for things like that. He said, 'Parcells, it's never your fault, but you're always there,'" Parcells said."

LOL That is funny.
Good story Parcells name is really Duane Charles parcells.
When he was in school there was another guy that looked like him and people would get them confused and start calling "Duane" by the others name "Bill" Parcells liked the nickname and decided to keep it.

Yes, the team lost the game.
But Bledsoe put them in a position to win.
With only one offensive touchdown? And that one touchdown wasn't exactly a great play by Bledsoe either. No high school QB in the country could have screwed up that flea-flicker. He also, as you may remember, fumbled the ball twice that game. If not for lucky bounces, either of those turnovers could have sealed the deal even without Santana's second TD. Sure, you're secondary screwed up at the end there, but I think that most offensive coordinators would be thrilled to have a defense give up just 14 points every game. Bledsoe and the offense put the team in a position to lose, and your defense allowed it to happen.
Also, I seem to remember the Cowboy's offense having the ball one last time even after having a chance to seal the game by converting on 4th down. They came up just a yard or so short, but how could the rest of the team have let Bledsoe down when the ball was in hands? The only player on your team that did anything to put your team in a position to win was Terry Glenn, but he was just outdone that night by his speedster counterpart on the Redskins.

What he was trying to say was, those fumbles weren't caused by all those sacks. They were caused by the center giving iffy snaps.
