The offensive line will benefit from a healthy Flozell Adams at left tackle.

OXNARD, Calif. - Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells spelled out his expectations for the offensive line at his opening training camp news conference.

"The ability of that group will transcend to the other parts of your team," he said, indicating that a confident, productive line will trickle down to the rest of the Cowboys' nervous system.

Then Parcells added a telling prediction:

"If we're not good there, we probably won't be a very good team," he said.

Big statement, but an accurate one judging by the Cowboys' 5-5 record over the final 10 games last season.

The line never recovered from Flozell Adams' season-ending knee injury in Week 6. Forced to help both tackle spots manned by Adams' backup, Torrin Tucker, and rookie Rob Petitti, the offense seemingly took fewer chances in the passing game and Bledsoe was sacked 49 times by season's end.
