Should the players on the teams that were relegated for match fixing be allowed to "quit" or force a trade/transfer, just because they were sent to Serie B?

I think some of these top players are coping out because they were demoted. If they are good, they'll be back in Serie A next year after finishing in the top 3 in Serie B.

But I have read where they no longer want to play on a relegated team. I say they are poor losers and should have to own up to their contract.

Your thoughts?

if you were a striker acquired by one of the teams this past year why would you want or have to sit in the third division in 2006?

So you are saying because of their status as a player they get a free pass? If a player in Hockey or Baseball isn't cutting the mustard, he can get sent down.

I think these guys are poor losers. They still earn the same money. Now they have to play good to get out of the lower divisions.

good soccer players like to play agianst good opponets...when u look at Juventus who will be in Seria B with a 17 point deduction...thats 5-6 games out of 38 u must win to be even....now if you are in the bottom 2 teams of your Seria you will get demoted.
Now i know juventus will more than likely not be in the bottom half of B but there is that chance...now if your a world cup winner and used to being the talk of italy/ and the whole world all the sudden your down to Serie B or even maybe C instead of being with Real Madrid or Barc or Chelsea...where the whole world can still watch you play and love you. Not to mention you can compete in the champions which is like the Title Championship for the NFL.

Most half decent players have it written in to their contract that if they go down they can force atranfer ome of the really good players have it in thier contracts that if the club does not make the champions league or Uefa cup they can activate a release clause that allows them to be sold. Players playing at the 2nd level are far less likely to play international football as the are not so to speak in the shop window so i see no problem in allowing them to go.
They are not the cause of them being relegated its not like players at Birmingham City or West Brom who did not perform so where relegated from the premiership these players find themselves in the 2nd division because of cheating from officials.

I was under the impression that once the demotion to Series B happened, that there was a clause in the players contract that voided the contract if the club had a non-perfromance related relegation. In football terms, I think the players basically became "free agents" once that happened. That is why you aren't hearing about transfer fees and things like that.

They were relegated because the ownership/management screwed them, not because of their play. They should absolutely be allowed to void their contracts or demand a transfer. Would you want to work for your boss after he reamed all his employees in the ass?

By the same token they all got win bonus endorsments etc they never really earned becasue as you put it their bosses screwed them.
