Dallas could enter the mix for Broncos wide receiver Ashley Lelie, a holdout. Cowboys coach Bill Parcells told reporters Wednesday his team is interested in acquiring a receiver. -- Denver Post
that could make their WR pretty strong.

Ridiculous. Lelie wants to be a #1 receiver and get a big payday. He'd be the 3rd WR on a team that only plays 2 due to the dual TE set. There is a 0% chance this happens.

the key word being...... could
just speculation because Parcells talk about a wr trade

It would easily give Dallas the best WR trio in the league, but I don't see it happening. He wants to get the big money and a shot at being the #1 WR.
He has a better chance at landing in Philly.

Could it be possible that with the constant media attention Parcells has already realized that there is no way things will work out with TO? I honestly feel it might be a good idea to just cut him now and minimize any longterm negative effects.

Persoanlly, I would ove it if they pursued Lelie...imagine Mr. Personality bill Parcells having to answer all the press conference questions baout T.O.'s durability and all. The guy is cranky as hell and thi swould rive him crazy...It probably wouldn't make T.O. too happy either.
I love it!

This is just a reporter throwing spaghetti against the wall. We should be used to this with all the rumors that pop up about us. Not going to happen.

I imagine a reporter throwing spaghetti against a wall near Bill Parcells a bad idea from a Cowboys PR perspective. He should let the man eat with dignity...

Just SI making a huge leap. Parcells saying "we're looking at WRs" turns into they're trying to trade for Lelie. Somehow I don't see it.

Actually, it's a guy from the Denver Post making a huge leap.

As per usual, the media is making too much out of this. I think Parcells is exploring options at trading for a backup WR...somebody relatively young with some potential and probably for a late draft pick. I highly doubt he's looking for a big name player.

I really don't see it, allot of people think hes a great WR I don't maybe as a third WR hes ok but if he was any good don't you think he would have been higher up on denvers depth chart?
Hes a typical full of himself player who thinks hes better than he really is.

Are you Crazy! Let me get this straight adding LELIE...LELIE would make them easily the best WR trio. Adding Lelie doesnt make anyone the best trio anywhere.

Do you really think Lelie is better? I've always thought he disappointed a little.
I guess if you want someone to stretch the field.

I agree Lelie has been a dissapointment; I had high expectations for him coming out of college.
Although Lelie is sort of a one-trick pony, I think he is more valuable in the standard wide-receiver role. Randle El's value as a receiver is moderate, and is gained instead in trick plays, reverse plays, and special teams.

Being a huge disappointment doesn't mean anything in comparing 2 player's talents.

While I dont think it will happen.
I wouldnt be surprised if it did.
I'd take him, but wouldnt be happy if they gave anything of value up for him.

I think Lelie would make them pretty damn scary in the passing attack.
I'm a Skins fan, but for those of you saying that Lloyd and Randle-El are better than Lelie look at the stats:
Lelie and Lloyd had about the same stats last year (but Lloyd did have more TD catches)
Lelie 42 for 770, 1 TD
Lloyd 48 for 733, 5 TD's
and ARE is 35 for 558, 1 TD.
Based on those figures, maybe Lelie SHOULD be trying to get Lloyd and Randle-El type deals... on paper he's as good as those guys (minus the returning aspect ARE gives us).

I must admit, having Ashley Lelie as your third wideout is scarier than having Owens as your first. He's pretty overqualified for a third option.

Cmon man, Lloyd for christ sake played with the niners, a first year coach, and a horrible rookie QB. Lelie played for a super offensive mind who has been there for ever (and by the way drafted him yet still wants him out) and a good veteran QB.
So please dont post those garbage stats.

I forgot that stats don't mean anything when it comes to negotiating contracts...

bbbbbbbb but this would support bbbb Bubba's theory that Dallas is in fact trading for top tier WR and not just a warm body..

OK, leave the stats out of it, but in that case, we are left to discuss players' values without any quantifiable and objective basis for comparison.
That would be fine, but I don't know how many people have seen enough film on Lelie, or even Lloyd and Randle El for that matter, to have such a conversation.

So TO would get to share passes with another decent receiver? Oh that'll go over big!

While we can all argue the merits of who is better that who, what is Lelie trying to prove?
He wants to be paid number one money and is holding out instead of honoring his contract and being in camp.
He could be the number one reciever for the Broncos , all he has to do is beat out Rod Smith for it.
He hasn't exactly proven he can be a number one yet wants to be paid like one and is screwing his team over in the process.
I am not sure that he is worth the contract he is asking for .
