trouble in G-men land
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insider/news/story?id=2543086
There has been some quiet concern about the early play of Giants CB Sam Madison, who has been beaten deep on more than one occasion. Though team sources say Madison is far from finished and still appears to be picking up the defensive responsibilities, he hasn't stood out to date.
While everyone in the media is heaping praise on Giants rookie WR Sinorice Moss, essentially handing him the No. 3 job, sources say Tim Carter is off to a great start and appears to be ahead of Moss at this point
Add old double nickel, things aren't looking good

Who is old double nickle? Sounds like nothing but bad news from New Jersey. Good. Eli sucks too.

That CB is toast.
Moss has been injured and wasn't likely to be an impact player this year.
Yes, #55, Plax, butter head-Shockey, and Eli's bud, Strahan should make it fun to watch when the lose three in a row.

Things are awful in Giants camp. They are going to be awful this year. Just ignore them.

Aww, I'm not an Insider. :(
I guess it would be difficult for Madison to pick up a defense, since the Dolphins had historically played a vanilla, line-em-up-and-play brand of defense for most of Madison's tenure. I don't think he'll have that hard of a time learning schemes, but they say he's been getting plain beat. Maybe that means the physical tools have deteriorated?
Either way, they were so bad on pass defense last year that pretty much anyone can be an upgrade, age and confusion or not.
As for Moss, nobody makes a splash the first year at wideout unless you're extra special, which he isn't. All the hype he's been getting up here is really undeserved. He'll be good, probably just as good as his brother. He is not, however, immune to growing pains like a Randy Moss-type.

Maybe instead of signing LA and Madison, they should have tried getting Bruce Smith and Deion Sanders.

Also from that article:
• The early indications out of Redskins camp were that QB Todd Collins, who played under Al Saunders in Kansas City, had a far better grasp of the offensive system than second-year QB Jason Campbell. If Mark Brunell went down tomorrow, you'd see Collins, not Campbell, starting.
Wow, ya think? I'm hoping that Collins has a far better grasp of the system than Brunell considering he has had 5 years to learn it.

That's not the way it works. We only ignore things if they are going well. ;)

Not that there's anything wrong with that...................and FWIW Bledsoe said "It shrinks like a startled turtle."

I believe you misread the quote. They meant Collins has a better grasp than Campbell.

They thought about it but couldn't because both those players are still under contract and being paid by the Skins so it would have been tampering.

I think he was using Brunell as an example. Of course he's got a better grip than Campbell, who's been in the NFL for fewer years than Collins has been in Saunders' offense. It would be understandable that Collins would know better than Brunell too.

Henh... ? If that was supposed to be a joke, it would have been more funny and more topical 2-3 years ago.

Yeah, my response was poorly worded. I meant to say that Collins better have a better grasp of the offense than Campbell, in fact, he better have a better grasp than Brunell. If not Collins could probably have an intellectual football discussion with Heath Shuler.

Sam Madison sucked last year -- why do you think the Dolphins didn't even consider resigning him? Another bad move by Accorsi. It's like he's taking advice from Cerrato or something.
And I'm changing the subject here, but how in the hell did Jerry Rice get a job on Sirius radio? Dude could play football, but he sure can't talk it.

Nice try Tom. I don't really believe everything has to be lovey-dovey in training camp for a team to do well in the season. Even all this stuff about TO ruining teams I take with a grain of salt.

Maybe that's why he's still on the Skins payroll.
