Perhaps his hair needed some attention...

Kevin Hawkey, Portage, Mich.: Not to drag the Hall of Fame questions out any further, but I was very curious why Jimmy Johnson wasn't in Canton to watch Troy Aikman get inducted. Do you know the story? I thought it was pretty rude not to show his support. It was the first induction for his team. What is the story here?

Mickey: Well, I heard a couple of reasons why from different people close to the situation, but to me, none of them were good enough for Johnson not to be there. You're right, not only was this the first of several Hall of Fame inductions for the team Johnson built, but it also was the most important guy, because I don't care how many future Hall of Famers were on this team, if they didn't have this one, none of them might be going into the Hall of Fame.

That is pretty weak. Even if Jerrah is there you still suck it up and go. This isn't junior high school.

Thank you for reminding us on this subject of Jimmy Johnson absent. We absolutely need to discuss this issue and check out every angle.
:silly: Especially if we can dig out some juicy dirts from the pukeland.

Edit:
 If that was true, then I must BLAME {284ever, a Dallas fan} for not posting this Jimmy Johnson problem in here. As we all know, 284ever can not wait to PREEMPT {tr1} and post any positive news coming out from the pukeland in ES board.

Aikman ultimately turned down Jimmy Johnson, then coaching at Oklahoma State, because he felt he had a better chance to win a national championship at Oklahoma. As it turned out, he was right, though it didn't happen exactly as Aikman had planned.

Aikman rejected Johnson again after his sophomore season when he decided to transfer to UCLA instead of Miami, where Johnson then was coaching.

"I joked with Troy," Johnson said. "I said, 'You turned me down at Oklahoma State; you turned me down at Miami. You can't turn me down with the Cowboys, because I'm going to ...

...in 1994, ...
Except that there was a meltdown that off-season between Jones and Johnson. Their egos got the best of them.
The two men decided individually that there wasn't enough credit and glory to go around. So Johnson walked away - or was shoved out by Jones, depending on which story you trust - and the downward spiral of the Cowboys began.

There is a popular saying "If it happens once, then it may not happen again. But, if it happens twice, then it may happen again and again and again."
:whoknows: Who know if Jimmy Johnson nice gesture to introduce Aikman in the hall was rejected by Aikman?
