Mods-Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but this is the forum I learned of this place.
To all my fellow Redskins Fans (Los Angeles especially)-Have you ever been wronged and felt there was nothing you could do?
Well, I live in L.A. and have heard about this 'Redskins' bar called Joxer Daily's on Washington Street in Culver City. So this last preseason game I wanted to give them some business.
Mind you I have a six month old daughter, and I called the the establishment before I even left my house. I asked the owner/barkeeper if this was a regular bar, or if it was like a bar and grill, like a family place where I could bring a baby! He tells me YES!!! Bring your baby!
So I do. And my wife. All dressed up in Skins gear, all 3 of us.
We get there, and of course its a regular bar with horrible 2 person crappy booths to sit in.
My wife talks me into staying till 1/2 time (she took the baby for a walk.) When she comes back, I asked the bartender to ring up our bill. After waiting like 15 minutes, I asked him again, this time telling him that my baby was getting fussy.
This ******* tells me..."thats what you get for bringing a baby to the bar!"
Of course I dont have to finish the story, but I will make it quick. So then I have more than a few choice words for him (less words for the bouncers that came over to 'escort' me out).
Not much I can do now, eccept tell the rest of the world my story and hope that it drives businesses away from that horrible place.
So please, my fellow Skins fans in L.A.-dont go to Joxers- shoot, I live down the street from there with a 62 inch HD and Direct TV...come over to my house instead!
(Like I said, you fellow extemers who like to mess with other people, yes I know I have a 62 inch HD, I wanted to give them business, cause they are a Redskins bar THATS why I even went in the 1st place-guess that what I get for trying to bring business strickly because they are a Skins bar!)

Thanks for the tip, I live in southern CA and still have not found a place to watch the 'Skins, so I just enjoy them at home.

hmm, I guess if I'm ever in the area, unlikely, but if I am, I will hit you up. a 61" tv does sound nice!
I really hate establishments that act like that.

The only "true" Redskins bar I know of is a hole in the wall bar in San Diego owned and run by a few NoVa transplants.
I guess the vast majority of us just either get Sunday Ticket or go to a bar and watch the games with the fans of other random teams.

That's so wrong on so many levels. I give you so much credit for calling ahead and asking if it was appropriate for children, rather than showing up (wish more people would be as considerate to the bar and to their children for that matter). Good luck in finding a good family joint for the little skins fans.

Your bad experience aside, Joxer Daly's is great. I went there for the playoff games last year -- people were going nuts.

Now that wasn't nice. No need to rub it in someone's face you having tickets and others not. They are no less of a Redskins fan because they don't have tickets and watch at home, whether they are local or across the country on the west coast.
I applaud him for representing the B&G on the west coast!

That's a bummer of a story considering that you did your research. However, the game was nationally televised so I don't see why you needed to go to Joxer's. I would be surprised if Joxer's has the next two preseason games which will not be on primetime National television. The one experience I had at Joxer's was a positive one although it was back in the year of the Fortune 500 Redskins of Y2K. I will again be in LA for the Sunday Nov. 12th game in Philly. I was hoping that Joxer's is still LA's place to be for the Burgandy-n-Gold. Sounds like I'm in good shape.

Up here in Northern California we have a bunch of sportsbars, none are "Skins" bars, but we still have a massive following of Skins fans that come out to watch the games.
This season will be off to an interesting start though because Week 1 is on MNF, and the next two games I will be attending, so I won't even be hitting the Sportsbar until Week 4!!!

While I am very sorry to hear you had a bad experiance, this is the exception, and not the rule at Joxer Dailys.
The Redskins banners will be flying high come football season as well. I had no idea they took them down in the off season....

Last time I went somewhere to watch a Skins game was 2003 and went to a Hooters of all places...lol...one of their smaller TVs had the Skins game on near the bar...I think it was only me and an Eagles fan watching the game while dozens upon dozens of Vikings fans gathered to watch them on one of the huge screens. They were filmed for a news segment, and had to reshoot the ending piece like 17 times...some female reporter saying "Live from Hooters, this is (fill in the blank)", to which all the Vikings fans would whoop it up and cheer on que...over and over and over again...
Directv became my best friend after that experience...lol

I used to live in Santa Monica and frequented Joxers EVERY WEEK for 4 years! It is an AWESOME PLACE to watch a Skins game but is NO PLACE for a baby or kid for that matter. I don't know why they told you it was. If you wouldn't have been told that, and didn't bring your baby, you'd have a blast. From experience, their service IS slow, but they used to have some beauties delivering the beer and food, albeit with serious attitude. But when kickoff starts, HAIL TO THE REDSKINS is in full force and the bar becomes ONE (at least until when Dallas Cowgirl supporters show up to heckle). Long live Joxer Daly's!!!!

I must say the thread title scared me a bit, "Los Angeles Redskins". I know the NFL has been attempting to get a franchise to LA but......
And it sounds like the bartender is a Dallas fan.

You may have to try and get a fellow bunch of fans to go to a bar and take over that particular bar. If that doesn't work, you may have to try and get something that will work like the espn zone or something. By the way I was out your way back in the spring and I loved LA. I know that is not a sentiment that is widely shared, but my wife and I went to the staples center for lakers vs. the clipps. Have always loved the lakers from way back in the mid eighties and enjoyed your city. Hope all works out for you.

I'll tell you I can't stand bouncers. For 7 bucks an hour someone feels they have the right to put their hands on you. Yes, I have had a few run ins with them. I know their dealing with drunks, but sometimes they overplay their role.
Anyway, If someone can guarantee a true Redskins bar in SoCal, I will be there! Last year I had to go to a semi-dump sports bar Scoreboard for what was 10 inch tv's. There hardly is even ANY bars with the ticket.
To make matters worse, just about every game I went to there the Skins lost but covered the spread in dramatic fashion. So, twice some shmoe bought me a drink b/c he won money and the Skins lost. Den & TB I think. I coulda cared less. It's like their a Skins fan all game and than they seem like your worse enemy- can't even drink the beer they buy you. Because all game I'm telling these guys the Skins are a lock, dont worry. Ehh!

I used to live down that way...I never made it to Joxer Daly's but I did spend a few Sundays at a place called The Tree House in Simi Valley. It's at the corner of Tapo and Alamo. It's a bit of a drive from Culver City, let alone Orange County, and it's in no way a Redskins bar. However, they have a bunch of tvs and they get a pretty good crowd on Sundays, so it makes for a good football atmosphere. Check it out if you happen to be in Simi Valley on a fall Sunday.

Yeah that place is a hole and yeah its got no seating and yeah the bandwagoners do come during the playoffs, but there are some strong points to that place. Tossing the pigskin around outside in the back at halftime, every Redskin game is shown there(for those who dont have Sunday package), its not far from home, and people do get nuts in there under the right circumstances(playoffs). I'd give it a 6.5/10. Not a take your baby to the bar kinda place, whatever that is. And no shiny brass like Clyde's of Reston, but definately a hardcore Redskin atmosphere.

Unless you are being physically belligerent or fighting, a bouncer has no legal right to grab you...that is assault, and you can bring criminal charges and civil action against both the bouncer personally and the establishment as well. If you are leaving of your own accord, they can't "help" you out the door. Of course, most people who get tossed were breaking the law themselves, so they pretty much have to let it go. Many bouncers and "security" personnel are just "wannabe" cops on a power trip, anyway. Don't let them get away with assaulting you if you are doing nothing wrong.
Most of all, vote with your wallet...don't go to places that treat you badly.

In a perfect world.
I'll say soem cases I deserved to be tossed, but I can name 2 specific times I was handled with no just cause. And yes, once I filed a police complaint. Never went through woth the suit or anything.
But also yes, when sober of mind I choose never to go back to those places. I just found they are quicker to act (not all the time) than they need to. There was a case in Atlantic City about 7 years ago where they killed a guy by kicking him in the head AFTER they had the guy out of the place.

I don't know why the owner said it was okay to bring a baby. I went to 5 games at Joxer's last year, and had a GREAT time at every one. I love that place, and plan to go back for more games this year. And there's a HUGE banner in the back that says "HOME OF THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS," so they do have banners up.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience there. If they'll still let you in, you should come back one week during the season, maybe for a Nationally Televised game... it's great fun. There are some serious die-hards that show up.

Dude...get over it. Seriously.
You were given some misinformation on the phone....big deal. By no means should you bring a baby to that place. Its a tiny sports bar.
I GUARANTEE you, for any skins fans in the area that are looking for a place to watch the game with fellow diehard skins fans, Joxer Dalys is your spot. If youre the type that wants a burger and fries while watching the game singing hail to the redskins and jumping around celebrating good plays, go there. Youre not going to get the best service. Youre not going to be treated like royalty. You WILL be surrounded by tons of diehard friendly redskins fans.
This is the lamest post Ive ever seen on this board. Get OVER IT man!
