Lloyd Is Game-Time Decision For Jets

By Jason La Canfora
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, August 18, 2006; Page E09

Starting wide receiver Brandon Lloyd missed yesterday's practice with a hamstring strain and could sit out tomorrow's preseason game with the Jets at FedEx Field. Lloyd, who was acquired in the offseason from San Francisco, said he is resting as a precaution.

"I listen to my body and catch it before it gets bad," Lloyd said. "I don't want any pulls, so I think sitting out a day is worth more than sitting out three weeks with a pulled muscle."

Coach Joe Gibbs said it will be a "game-time decision" whether Lloyd participates tomorrow, but given the recent run of injuries to starters such as Clinton Portis, Shawn Springs and Phillip Daniels, it would not be a surprise if Lloyd is given off until Monday, when the team next practices.

If Lloyd sits, wide receivers on the roster bubble such as Jimmy Farris and Mike Espy (whose father, Mike, a former secretary of agriculture, attended yesterday's practice) figure to get more work. Lloyd is set to start opposite Pro Bowler Santana Moss, and was one of several high-profile offensive players to join the team.

When I see him on the sidelines on an excersize bike wearing a Bronco Billy helmet for two weeks, then I'll get worried.

Lloydd was a malcontent and tore apart 1 team in 4 years for an average of one team every 4 years.

TO was a malcontent and tore apart 2 teams in 12 years, for an average of one team every 6 years.

So statistically speaking, he's more of a troublemaker than Owens. HAHAHAHA

I came here specifically to start a thread saying that I am SICK of hamstring injuries!

They happen far too often for an injury that's non-contact. A knee sprain probably can't be avoided but why are hamstring injuries so widespread, every damn year!

I mean really, a guy who has a legitmate injury for one day (and still was in pads.... not mugging for the cameras in a lance armstrong costume) who doesn't have a history of milking injuries... is exactly like the TO diva media circus, who laid out of two a days, and the toughest part of camp for two weeks because he thought he had a sore hamstring................. what is really stupid is all the poke fans trying to spin, and deny what happened the past two weeks in Oxnard.... and trying to make us think that they are not concerned about TO's past as well :dunce:

You really are unbearable - how many QBs has Lloyd called out in the media? How many coaches has he lambasted? How many self-centered tell-all books has he written? How many times has he been suspended by teams?

And the overlooked part here is that TO begged and whined his way off the Ravens to the Eagles.

There is NO comparison here unless you are as out of touch with reality as TO is.

Was there anything in that article, at all...in any way, shape or form...that came even remotely close to talking about any stress, strife or tension on the Redskins due to Lloyd having a hamstring injury?...If so, I missed it completely.

The only thing sad is that you can't see the difference.

I suppose it was the media who airbrushed a cycling outfit on TO... ? Parcells did nothing about it, other than complain that he was asked about TO too much. The only thing Lloyd and TO have in common is they're WR's who have played at San Francisco at one time.

It's not about TO's actual injury. It's a stupid hamstring injury that tons of players are getting. The difference is he milked it for two weeks and did things as an individual to grab attention while neither his coach nor his teammates did anything about it. Nevermind the fact he's new and it's his first time in the NFL in an Offense other than a WCO variant of some sort. TO is still TO and he'll still have the same effect on a locker room.

Holy crap...Lloyd has been out over two weeks with this injury? Oh wait...you mean he hasn't? Right...so get back to us in a couple of weeks when Lloyd is still out and milking the injury and your argument might make some sense.

See the thing that you completely miss is the fact that no one really cared that T.O. was out initally with a hammy. People started caring when he made it a spectacle and made it quite obvious that he was milking the injury to get out of practice. That wasn't the media doing anything stuipd...that was T.O.

Not to add ANY validity to this thread, but even if anyone was worried about this, your major point is incorrect.

Lloyd, in saying that he wanted to rest his hamstring for a day was referring to missing a practice. Gibbs, in saying Lloyd was a game-time decision was referring to the preseason game. So, even if you wanted to find a conflict, there is none.

Here's how much Gibbs and Lloyd are at odds.

From Lloyd's Redskins.com journal:

Coach Gibbs talked to us in our team meeting last night about how much admiration he has for our fans. He told us a story about how long people are on the waiting list for tickets and how they pass them down from generation to generation.

Coach Gibbs said, "D.C is separated by so many different aspects in life and the one common thing that keeps this town together is the Redskins."

As players, we feel the fans deserve for us to go out there and bust our butts and win games. Coach Gibbs had a handful of teams he could have come back and coached for, but he is a Redskin for life and the way he feels about this city and his players is evident in how he speaks to us. It is truly a privilege and a dream come true to play for Coach Gibbs and this organization. I look forward to having a great season.

The sad thing is I think he actually thought this was a legitimate comparison. I would rather, for his sake, he posted this just to rile us up and know that comparing the two situations was laughable at best. Unforuntately he probably thinks it's legitimate and when he reply with the very obvious points why they are world's apart he attributes it to us "spinning" it that way. Very sad indeed.

Sure I'm ok. Just having a little fun. Bubba actually made my point on this thread early on, and the others just confirmed it.

Redskins player gets a hurt hammy, its a legit injury

TO gets a hurt hammy, its made up.

Thats it, simple as that. I've read a million posts on here about TO's "injury" history, and outside of last year when he wanted more money, nobody can find a story where people thought he was milking.

Look at it.
Steve Smith goes down for 2 weeks with a hammy, it doesn't make the news
Brandon Lloyd goes down for an some time (we don't know how long yet) and nobody cares.

TO goes down with a hammy and its WWIII. ESPN, CNN, MSNBC, an AL-Jazeera are there to cover it. And the funny thing is, John Q. Redskin fans buys every word.

Yet cowboys fans are called "dumb"????

There isn't a redskin fan alive who isn't sick of hearing about TO, as there isn't a Cowboys fan alive who isn't sick of it ether. Yet the ESPN cameras never go away. WHy is that? They're sitting there waiting for a blow up. And some big wig in Bristol is getting tired of paying overtime to some reporters who haven't found anything yet. So all of a sudden a simple hammy injury turns into Bill vs TO, round one.

I didn't even think redskins fans were stupid enough to buy into this sort of thing. Apparently I was wrong.

 I love how you keep beating that dead horse

there is a difference, a HUGE difference... and there is a reason why it gets spread all over ESPN, SI, Sporting News etc...

you know this we, this isn't even a good spin attempt...

but I will give you this... if Lloyd, goes two weeks I will be concerned about his progress in learning the system

If he separates himself from the rest of the team, riding a bike, mugging for reporters, making himself seem he is above the team and Joe Gibbs, and if he still lays out of practice even though he is able to run sprints at full speed after practice... and if the training staff clears him and says there is nothing to support his injury claims, yet he still refuses to suit up, or bring his own quacks in.. I will say they are the same example....

But I won't PRETEND it doesn't bother me, or act like it isn't a big deal, in fact I will be pissed at Lloyd's behavior, and question his motives. I mean it would be foolish to try insult everyone's intelligence around here to try and hide the truth

WOU, you make this WAY too damn easy...time to send in the back-up and see if he can do any better...lol ;)

WeOwnU, there's no point arguing this. They'll just spin spin spin.

T.O. got injured:

"Whoa, TO's being an ***!!!!"

T.O. came back:

"BP threatened TO with death to come back!!!!"

Lloyd gets injured:

"It's a legitimate injury, unlike TO's!!!!!!!!"

How can any of you say that TO's injury wasn't legitimate? Just because it doesn't show up on the MRI doesn't mean it's not sore or something. I would rather have him sit out now than during the regular season.

AFTER TO danced on their star!

"Hit me again Ike, but this time put some STANK on it!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !      :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

NOW THAT'S FUNNY!!!!!!!

I cannot believe the Boys fans, the Boys, and the Boys Front Office could not see this coming. If they get off to a slow start, I predict that Parcells will resign before the season ends. The man can't stand TO! He doesn't like the "kid gloves" treatment, but he doesn't have a choice right now. If he goes postal on TO, he knows the circus that is TO will go into high gear. I can't express in words how elated I am that TO is not a Redskin!!!! :point2sky

You're joking right? Obviously, you've been off on some distant island the last couple of weeks. Have you seen what TO has been doing? Have you seen the expression on Parcells' face when discussing Totally Obnoxious? You're just pulling my leg, right?

Of course you are!!!!!

And for that reason his name will not change...:)

Hmmm, can anyone recall if Hines Ward has, at any time over the last three seasons, demonstrated a repeated pattern of crying about his contract, criticizing his QB, and thus alienated himself from his teammates and ownership?

Yeah, didn't think so.

and TO's last seasons groin injury in Philly's camp... was no big deal either??

keep digging, bring up every player to ever have a hamstring injury, but try as you might, it won't be the same... and you know it

if it's not important, why are you trying so hard to squelch it, especially on a Redskin board?

Enter Apotheosis

Steve Smith and Brandon Lloyd don't furiously peddle away at the stationary bike in costume because they're only 85%. When TO is running sprints at near-full speed but still refusing to practice and butting heads with the coach, he deserves all the negative attention. Honestly, I will be pissed if Lloyd starts to use his injury as an excuse to skip out on things he is perfectly capable of doing (and I'm a huge fan of his).

You're essentially ranting over several COMPLETELY different situations where the severity of the injury and how it is being handled varies drastically. If you were smart, you'd atleast wait until Lloyd started "acting up". Even then, the problems he had with the 49ers were very minor and that entire team was more or less self destructing so its not newsworthy until it begins to follow a pattern.

I guess the Cliff's Notes Version of my post is: Shut the **** Up ;)

Riddle me this Pokie,....

if it's all the same... why is the media so interested in TO's injury, and why is their so much speculation about him.....

think about it, it will come to you

actually you already know, and are just to hard headed to admit it

get use to it... because even when the media isn't interested in TO, TO will do something or say something to draw all the interest back on to him before the game EVERY Sunday. The Pokes will be analyzed more than an alien's ass hole, every fart he lets will be video taped, and the stink debated about what he ate for lunch.

and before you start complaining blaming "the media"... remember this is the world TO created for himself, and Jerrah agreed to take on TO's baggage when he handed him that $10,000,000 check

Lloydd was a malcontent and tore apart 1 team in 4 years for an average of one team every 4 years.

TO was a malcontent and tore apart 2 teams in 12 years, for an average of one team every 6 years.

So statistically speaking, he's more of a troublemaker than Owens. HAHAHAHA

Tic toc, tic toc

So since To was still on the team the first year LLoyd was there it would be logic that it was TO LLoyd never complaigned about his qb being gay Loyd shows up to practices

I really wish I could remember his name, but I was watching...Total Access I believe. Anyway, one of the corresponders mentioned that Jerrah admitted to him during a dinner that he only signed TO cuz he was desperate to win. I was shocked to hear that. Not because its a "shocking" revelation, but because of the fact that Jones would actually say that to someone outside of the organization. He musta had one too many shots of Jack.

I'm kinda ashamed for Dallas fans. Not all, but just the ones who are so quick to put Terrell Owens BS into spin cycle when its obvious his actions are following the same pattern they did in his latter years of San Fran and Philly.

And whats even sadder than that is the redskins fans can't decipher what is media BS, and what is real when it comes to TO and BP.

They just want to rush to judgment and say Tic Tok, Tic Toc.

It was just nice to show them how stupid all of this is. Is Lloyd as mental as TO? No, but he is mental. There was a strong correlation between this injury, and malcontent wideouts. And if you don't see the irony here, its just sad.

Lloyd is mental. A good percentage of his poise on the field stems from his mental capabilities, such as his ability to recall routes to run and the mental ability to calculate just how he needs to dive to make that catch.

Slightly different from TO's mental capabilities, which are calculating the amount of time that he spends dodging practice, t, the extent of Parcells' frustration with him, p, and the inevitable destruction of the Dallas Cowboys, d, such that tp<d. Or, as Drew Bledsoe fails to deliver him the ball, he will have to recalculate such that tp>d.

Couple of things that are bothering me about your posts. It's tick, tock, not tic toc. A tic is a kind of embarassing spasm or habit that is near impossible to break and pops up at inconvenient times, kind of like you.

Also, don't use the word mental. It makes absolutely no sense in the context of your infantile, pathetic, and stupid attempt at comparing a Washington Redskin to your own pitiful situation.

Maybe if you took the time to do a little research on the topic, you'd realize that Lloyd was frustrated with a losing team, something the Eagles were not, and that he has been the picture of cooperation and willingness to work hard here in Washington.

I'll tell you where the correlation lies: the content of your post and stupid.

And that, sir, is one hell of a link.

[QUOTE=WeownU]OH NO !!!!! Things are falling apart in DC guys, Lloyd and GIbbs are at each others throats. Its only a matter of time before this malcontent starts destroying this team. Even the other players are questioning if Coach Gibbs has "lost" the team.

Lloyd Is Game-Time Decision For Jets

By Jason La Canfora
Washington Post Staff Writer

Starting wide receiver Brandon Lloyd missed yesterday's practice with a hamstring strain and could sit out tomorrow's preseason game with the Jets at FedEx Field. Lloyd, who was acquired in the offseason from San Francisco, said he is resting as a precaution.
