View Full Version : The Latest Ashley Lelie Trade Rumor

The Philly media and boards are buzzing now with the latest rumor to come out.
Ashley Lelie and Tatum Bell for Darwin Walker, Ryan Moats and a 5th round pick.
While that sounds highly unlikely I would definitely consider that. As much as I like Moats I think I like Tatum Bell just as much if not more. Walker is solid (I said great before but I must retract that statement. He's lazy sometimes.) at DT but we have enough depth there. We'll see if this plays out or not. I'll go on record saying I don't think it will.

Since when did the NFL become the NBA? Aside from the Vikings - Cowboys trade in the late 80's, when's the last time there was a multi player trade in the NFL? Maybe I have a selective memory and choose not to remember, but if anybody can enlighten me, please do.
It's amazing how this "trade rumor" is so one sided in favor of the Eagles.

It's pretty absurd I'll agree. But the members on TATE will bite on just about anything. This is Gargano's rumor and he's has about a 0.001% success rate as far as rumors go.

tr1 you don't know much about football do you? Walker would be solid depth at DT and he could come in and start right away. Lelie isn't all-world? What the **** league have you been watching recently? Moats and Bell are almost interchangeable. Though I'd say Bell is better. Moats just fumbles too much. The Broncos could make him work though.

Ashley Lelie (19th overall pick 2k2) had 1850 receiving yards over the last two years plus, Tatum Bell (41th overall pick 2k4) who had over 900 rushing yards last year for who? For a worn down DT who had 2.5 sacks last year plus a RB who almost got 300 yards last year. What are you guys smoking in Philly because Isiah Thomas would even laugh at this trade.

If the Eagles pulled that one off it would be highway robbery, and that offense would get a lot more intimidating. Lelie is just what that team needs. I know, I know, the character issues, but I don't think it would be nearly as big a deal as advertised.

For what it's also worth I don't want to get rid of Moats. I like him a lot. He's slowly becoming one of my more favorite players on the team. He's tiny, has a lot of speed and plays with heart. He just needs to learn to hold onto the rock.

No. Eskin says they are but I don't think so. Eskin just throws **** out there and hopes anything sticks. Even Eagle fans aren't biting on it.
I would rather them go after someone like Duckett than get rid of Moats. Buckhalter is still too much of a risk in my mind. The price for Duckett might be a bit higher for an NFC team though as the Falcons would probably rather deal him out of the conference. They are asking a third right now. They might want a second or a third and some compensation to deal him to the NFC.

The "unofficial" offer now is Lelie for Moats straight up....
Jarhead1775 from the EMB posted.....
"The Broncos have reportedly shown interest in Ryan Moats. Moats is coming off a miserable preseason effort, carrying seven times for seven yards, with a fumble. Still, the Broncos might be willing to ditch one year of Ashley Lelie for three years of Moats, which makes sense for both sides. It'd help Moats' fantasy value. "

Eagles | Philadelphia a potential landing spot for Staley?
Tue, 22 Aug 2006 14:50:41 -0700
Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports if the Pittsburgh Steelers trade or release RB Duce Staley, one possible landing spot would seem to be the Philadelphia Eagles who, to date, have not had any trade conversations with the Steelers. Should Staley be released, and it is within the realm of possibility, the Eagles could be on the list of teams interested in his services. In recent seasons, the Eagles have made a habit out of bringing back longtime contributors and fan favorites. The Eagles are in the market for a big back and, earlier this week, visited with free agent RB Stephen Davis (Panthers).
And this...

I agree 110% with you. He was the heart and soul of the offense much the way the Dawkins is to the defense. I personally would welcome him back with open arms.....and more importantly, I would finally believe that the team will run the ball again. With a healthy Buck, West, and hopefully Duce in the fold, the 3 headed monster could really take off, especially now that the Eagles have a powerful drive blocking OL.
I hope this happens, along with the Moats trade for Lelie....... :2cents:

When the played happened, I was screaming at the TV for Chase to stop !!! And I was depressed when they collided and Rowand had to be helped off .... even worse this AM when I found out that he had broken the ankle. I didn't think that the Phils had enough pitching to win the WC, but lately I've been thinking that maybe they do ... now the starting CF is out ... I have less optimism now.

I'm still trying to figure out what Rowand was doing cause Chase was calling for it the whole way. Anyways, at least Shane and david have a chance to play everyday now. Hopefully the SPs can continue to pitch half way descent. With what they have, they had better pitch at least 6-7 innings a night.

Please, because it's a gigantic coup to keep megastars TJ Duckett and Lelie from Philly. Duckett was never coming and I don't fully understand how he fits on the Skins, and I wouldn't have given a 3rd for Lelie, if that is indeed what the Skins gave up.

Rocky Mountain News is reporting this:
"Denver will receive Washington’s first- and third-round picks if the Redskins’ finish with a worse record than the Broncos this season and thus have a higher pick. If Washington finishes with a better record than Broncos they will then get the Redskins’ third- and fourth-round picks."

ESPN is saying the following
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2558101
he Falcons sent former first-round tailback T.J. Duckett to Washington. At worst, the Broncos will receive two draft choices from Washington -- third- and fourth-round picks -- and those picks could escalate based on a complicated formula.
The trade is expected to be announced Wednesday.

Actually, I posted on the "dealing our picks away" thread the status of all 3rd round picks from the 2004 draft. I picked that draft because if they're going to become a starter it will most likely happen in 2-3 years. Anyway, there were 15 players who are now listed as starters on their teams. Only 2 players who aren't on rosters, 1-2 4th string and 3rd string and about 12 that are 2nd string back-ups.
Here's the starters:
Darnell Dockett (DT)
Nate Kaeding (K)
Nick Hardwick (C)
Stuart Schweigert (S)
Gilbert Gardner (LB)
Randy Starks (DT)
Tim Anderson (DT)
Max Starks (OT)
Bernard Berrian (WR)
Chris Cooley (TE)
Sean Locklear (OT)
BJ Sander (P) as of last year
Tony Hargrove (DE)
Travelle Wharton (OT)
Landon Johnson (LB)

We had fast and we traded him to you all for a 5th round pick (Thrash). Of course he's fast on a track, and if he gets bumped off the line by a CB, forget about it, he won't get open.
I haven't watched Lelie enough to comment on him, but bringing a starting WR into a new system 2 weeks before training camp seems a difficult prospect. For atlanta, all he needs to do is run back and forth waving his arms and then start blocking when Vick doesn't see him and takes off like a rabbit.
As for Moats - he might be good/ok, but the game against Seattle last year where he vomited the football in the backfield was awful. I hate rbs that fumble, but hopefully he'll get that behind him.

Thrash isn't as fast. Especially not on the field.
And Thrash was a slot receiver for the Eagles a lot of time. Pinkston was the stretch guy.
Again, I'm not high of Lelie. In fact I hope he sucks this year, because I'm sure his production is tied into what we have to give Denver.
But it's almost like the Eagles are just being outmaneuvered here.
Almost like they are conceding this as a year to solidify, not to compete. It's another year of McNabb down the tubes as far as I'm concerned.
