I think the players will take the game this weekend more seriously. I think Gibbs got his point across yesterday by putting up a sign in the locker room stating "FULL PADS".

Whether they win or lose this weekend is irrelevant, however I think we will see more of a "team" this weekend.

One of the players said yesterday's practice was one of the most intense he has seen. Rightfully so.

We will become a tighter knit team as we finalize our roster. I definately agree with you on the fact that we will see a higher level of intensity this weekend.

Gibbs has their full attention so theres no doubt that they will come out fully focused for this weeks game.

I bet their won't be any 23 play drives this weekend from the Patriots either..

finally people talking some sense - I rather see some intensity, execution, and energy, rather then us piling up senseless touchdowns

I don't think that most of our concerned about touchdowns or wins for that matter. Like you, I also would like to see intensity, execution and energy and we haven't seen any of that thus far.

There is also only 8 more practices until the opener, Gibbs is now going to run practice the way the team will practice during the season. This has more to do with timing then the Jets loss. I do agree the team should be more focused and physical, at least the first units, for the next two preseason games. Will that result in wins, possibly but I don't see any changes to the limited playbook this close to the season.

Yesterday was supposed to be light practice, after the lack of effort the team showed on Saturday it went to an all out Full Pads practice.

So the defense will outshine the offense but what I am truly worried about is that the offense is HIDING all their secrets. You know, they did the same thing the last 2 seasons and we piled it on in last years opener against CHicago with 3 field goals.

My suggestion, go ahead and use all those secret plays that nobody has ever seen before, and start practicing them in preseason Al. Maybe your offense will get consistent.

when did chicago's D become easy to score on?

we did move the ball pretty well on them

Gibbs has never shown anything in preseason. Ever. Will he change..? Probably not.

It's true. I'v ebeen waiting to see this team on its toes, especially the guys fighting for jobs/paychecks. As I've been saying for weeks: if there's a team to test yourself against in the dress-rehearsal, it's the Patriots. They're the team that gives you the most to observe and the most to learn.

On top of that, we did use two quarterbacks too. That takes a little getting used to, especially considering the velocity difference between Patrick and Mark.

I expected this week to be intense anyways since this is the last week for players to make their case to be on the team before the 1st cuts. However, now that JG and GW have decided to up the ante for poor performances, results from this weeks practices will be very interesting.

sounds like Gibbs has them right where he wants them mid-way through the pre-season.. ;)

Well said. I'm not worried about us winning or losing in the preseason. Especially after someone stated that the last two 0-4 preseasons we had ended up in SB victories. But we looked flat out terrible in these last 2 games. So long as we see more of a TEAM effort, I'm happy.

I think Gibbs is over reacting. Doesn't he know these preseason games mean nothing?

He needs to take heed to what posters around here have been saying. You can't take anything from a preseason game and if you do then you are a chicken little(i think that is the proper term)

I think Gibbs planned for this... I know he was legitimately pissed about the Jets game, but he chose to have a loose TC and chose to have it begin as late as possible, and chose to have very few two-a-days...

So my feeling is that he'd have all this go down, and if it worked out, then great, and if not then he'll give 'em hell these last two weeks and whip them into shape now that they have been practicing the plays for a month.

I just have to think that with how loose and easy things have been up to now that Gibbs, the ultimate planner, wouldn't have factored in the possibility of this happening and giving his team time to work their way out of it...

Isn't it better to have intense practices now that they know the plays then while they are trying to learn them?

Loose and easy is for the fans during open practices.
Even portis started some light workouts probably to get away from all the yelling.

This is pretty much how I feel about our situation.
The players ego's are busted at this point and Gibbs is going to push these guys hard now.

Part of me has been thinking that... damn, did the Skins players buy into the media hype and just not show up to play?

I think these 2 losses are going to really make these players question themselves--in a good way of course--and the Skins are gonna come around.

I'm not worried. These players are very talented and they've got a great group of coaches behind them.

Gibbs is not relaxed unlessed he is stressed.

This is why he is so damn good in December, when the pressue is on, and when one loss can be detrimental to an entire season. I think he is at his best when things are bad or at their worst. Take a look at our record during strike years, end of the season, playoffs and the superbowl. Pretty good huh? So if the league is smart, they are hoping the Skins go to New England and blow out the Patsys and then rest on their laurels and believe the hype that will be genereated from the exhibition.

If the opposite happens and we play bad, God Help Minnesota.

The vibe I'm getting on this board and from all my fellow diehard Redskins concerning these 2 losses is EXACTLY the same vibe we had after losing to the Raiders and the Chargers last year.

And what happened after that...? ;)

Stay in there guys... things are gonna turn around.

keep in mind this is still the preseason. we are not playing our starters like some of the teams. watching the dallas/NO games monday and they still had their starters in throughout the first half. if our guys (the ones that will see the reps on opening day) were still not ready, i believe we would be seeing a bit more of them this preseason. with them only playing a few series, this tells me they are farther along than most teams and are more prepared to playing sept 11 against minnesota. these 2 losses dont mean much, considering half the time or more, there were little in any starters playing
