The only way I see us taking Duckett is if we really dont trust betts or we think we will lose betts after this year

Would be a very good move IMO.

Insurance for Clinton, and instantly gives this team the ability to pound it in on short yardage... something that killed us last year.

Wow, this would give us INSANE RB depth.

Hopefully, if this goes down, it is Patten for Duckett straight up....

This is very interesting, because it seems to have come out of left field. According to some other threads, at least a rumor of this is now being reported in Philly, Atlanta, and on SI.com also.

If we get Duckett we must trade Betts. I'd like to see us shore-up the O-line.

Ok, coach just said that Patten isn't practicing because of a bruised thigh.

WE get Ducket and then trade him to the Eagles for one of their starting corners - or trade him to another team for O-Line Depth. If we do trade for him, I doubt that he stays in Washington

If it happens and it may be true since there was a rumor that Atlanta was trying to deal Duckett to the Jets, it would be great.

We would have Portis, Duckett and Betts as our 3 wideouts and still get to keep a Espy or even a Farris as our 5th wideout. Awesome move IMHO.

Interesting read on Duckett

CAREER NOTES
Nicknamed the "Diesel," No. 8 (in honor of his brother Tico, who wore number 35, 3+5=8) has drawn comparisons to the Pittsburgh Steelers' "Bus," Jerome Bettis, for their hard-driving running styles … The three-year sensation opted to test the pro waters rather than return for his senior season, but he left MSU with 621 carries for 3,379 yards (5.4 avg) and 29 touchdowns …

I wouldn't give up so soon.....If there was nothing to the rumor, Gibbs would have flat out said there was nothing to it.

But he didn't.......

Was Patten listed as injured coming out of the Jets game? We're rather clandestine regarding our moves (who saw the Jacobs-for-Rumph deal coming?). Gibbs keeps his cards close the vest. I make more out him not practicing than the given excuse...

Hail,

HI agree that Coach kind of danced around the specific question about the Duckett rumor.

Bootom line...if the Redskins want Ducket, we will get him...FOR SURE. That is why it is so great being a Skins fan...we always get the player we want! This is TOTALLY up to the Redskins...the Falcons really have no part in it. lol...but I'm dead serious!

Patten with a brused thogh...he didn't let himself get hit...how can he have a bruised thigh? lol

Yeah, he went around the bush a few times avoiding an answer.

I almost got a headache trying to figure out what he was saying.

I'm not sure I like this trade. Like Bram or Larry said today, Duckett has never lived up to his potential (remind anyone of a certain LB we recently let go?). Heck, with the way Sellers ran the ball the other night who needs Duckett? It's the same thing: a big RB for short yardage.

On the other hand, 1.) Coach likes Patten, 2.) I like him as a 4th WR. I mean, he gives us such depth--and talent--at WR that it's sick. Throw in Cooley and who can stop us? There aren't enough good defenders to stop that kind of attack.

I say stick with Betts and Sellers for the first two games, at least. Give Ladell a chance to prove himself. If we can't move the ball then make a move with Patten if you need to. But don't be too hasty now.
