Fort Minor is great, 'cept where Shinode feels like he has to curse and ruin some good songs just to fulfill his inner wigger.

Also, "Coming Undone Wit It" is an insult to rock and Korn.

Just like that "Crazy Train" remake

One more thing: rap is not music: it is noise with a beat......

I take my lifting music very seriously (RATM, Godsmack, Wu-Tang affiliates, etc.)

As far as some more rap for your lifting mix. Get as much M.O.P (Songs: how about some hardcore, Rocky remix feat Jay-Z) and Jedi Mind Tricks (on the eve of war feat. Gza) as possible. Not only will it amp you up to push out that las rep, but you will probably want to fight the guy taking too long on the bench.

I do love that CD, definitely a good one to get pumped up to.

Lol, I'm a HUGE fan of Bone but most of their stuff is probably better for hitting blunts than weights :silly: I'd still work out to them, though, because I love their music and they still have a lot of high energy songs. Just about every song on every CD up through Art of War is off the hook.

I loved his first two albums but everything since sucks ass. I couldn't think of a better workout album than his first two CDs, though.

I know this may not be your cup of tea, but throw some Korn on there.

From "Let's Get This Party Started" to "Thoughtless" and "Right Now", those songs WILL get you going.

Anything angry and dark will also work.

I stopped listening to music while lifting. It's not about how pumped up you get, or how much weight you lift, but proper form and total focus on the muscles you're targeting.

I.e., concentration usually requires no external interference.

See, I see no reason why music should distract somebody from lifting properly and getting a good "pump." I can lift with or without music, but once I got my Ipod, I got spoiled having music to keep me going at the gym. I can get the same boost if there are some good lookin ladies at the gym as well. :D

I can get by lifting w/o music but I sure as hell need it while doing cardio work.

TheKurp

But music is just that, a distraction. Otherwise, why would anyone care what they're listening to? I.e., if you're focused on what's playing then you're not focused on proper lifting and the targeted muscles. Can't have it both ways. Studies have shown that listening to music does not improve performance in the weight room.

That said, music is GREAT for aerobic exercise because by very definition you must do it continuously to for at least 20 minutes to derive benefit. Getting lost in the music helps distract you from monotonous exercise and you're likely to do it longer without gettting bored.

I think it is personal when it comes to that- I just have more energy and am ready to roll when I listen to banging music. it gets me pumped up.

if I didn't have music, I would be tired after a day of work and lethargic.

and yeah, the hotties at Gold's help also

May just be me, but music gets my adrenaline up. Adrenaline improves performance in the weight room. THerefore, music improves performance.

I think you can find a pretty good balance between being distracted and using it appropriately.

That said, I listen to mostly rock while working out (RATM, Godsmack, Disturbed, Korn, Rob Zombie, etc.) but I've got a few rap songs to suggest (some of which have already been mentioned but I'm just listing everything I've got on my playlist, so if it's a repeat, consider it an endorsement):

BT feat. the Roots- Tao of the Machine (from Blade II soundtrack)
Crystal Method feat. Ryu- Name of the Game
Fort Minor- Remember the Name
Lil Jon feat. Trick Daddy/Twista- Let's Go
Ludacris feat. Sum 41- Get Back Rock Remix
Nappy Roots- Aw Naw Rock Remix
Nelly- Heart of a Champion, Errtime, Boom
T.I.- What You Know
Three 6 Mafia- Stay Fly
Outkast- Bombs Over Baghdad
Public Enemy feat Anthrax- Bring the Noise
Knoc'turnal- My Muzik

A Couple Grand- Young Joc

Kinda graphic, but a good beat and strong lyrics that will be sure to make you get a few extra reps on the bench press.

Also, some Jeezy would do the trick.

The main rap music I have for my weight lifting tape is
MOP
Mobb Deep
DMX
ONYX
Not because I love all their songs (even though there are good ones) but because the beats and sound sem to push me.
Honorable mentions are
Eminen "I am"
Jay-z and MOP " Welcome to he roc"
and most new Dip Set

On Rock it would be
Linkin Parks 1 st album
Stainds 1 st album
Slipnot
System of a Down

I have been lifting weight a long time and find that this music helps push me. I never work out alone with no music. Never.
