In the eastern Carribean.
Could the lowering of the forecast for hurricanes this season been jumping the gun with hopes of a lesser season?
It has fired up with Debby teetering off into the Northern Atlantic, now Ernesto forecasted to become a hurricane and head south of Florida, and two other waves.
All I can hope for though is that if Ernesto pays us in S. Fla a visit, it is Tuesday as scheduled, right in time for the start of school :D .

Don't worry. There is a slim to none chance TD5 will hit South Florida. If I lived any where from Galveston to New Orleans I would start watching the TV more. A 500mb ridge is prog'ed to move into SE US in about 5-6 days. That would allow TD5/Ernesto to become a very strong hurricane.

Thank you for killing my hope of having a good excuse to not go to class :paranoid:.
Seriously though, I think you are right, but I can have my hopes...

Damn 500mb ridges...messing everything up for everyone!
(If indeed it forms into a hurricane and moves into the Gulf, prepare yourselves for non-stop coverage from all news outlets until it reaches wherever it goes!)

You've obviously never been through a serious Hurricane.
No offense, but I really don't think you want to have a Hurricane hit Florida just so you can miss a class or two.
Those of us who own property here in Florida get the jitters any time a storm forms that has any chance of hitting the state. Have you seen what is happening with home owners insurance down here due to the hurricane losses in 2004?
Any storm damage drives costs up.
Hopefully you'll make your classes and hopefully you're enrolled in an economics course. :2cents:
