Still confused on the cost of the Duckett trade? Me too, but this article attempts to explain it, a little anyway. Apparently there are 992 scenarios on how it could play out by seasons end.
The ultimate trade scenario for the Broncos: They swap their No. 32 first-round pick for Washington's No. 21 pick. This would be preferable for many reasons, beginning with the number 32 - it's the pick reserved for the Super Bowl champion. Using a draft-point formula, the highest the Broncos could move up from No. 32 is 11 spots. The worst-case scenario for the Broncos would be if Washington finishes with a better record and winds up drafting in the 20s of each round. In this case, Denver would get Washington's late third-round pick in 2007 and a fourth-round pick in 2008.
