Was this guy's contract a lot more than Carter's. If not, why didn't we go after him. He looks like a super pickup for the Beagles. Can really rush the QB, and plays the run great. Or maybe he is a head case, and that is why JG stayed away. Anyone know?

Howard is a good player, but he's a bit older (30) than Carter and has had injury problems in the past.

We didn't go after him because 1 he did want more money I believe though I'm not sure, 2 he is massively injury prone, 3 he is older than Carter, 4 Carter has much more upside than him, 5 Carter is going to be a beast this year after finally fully rehabbing himself after a number of setbacks getting better from his surgery. :2cents:
If it helps assuage your fears that Gibbs doesn't know what he's doing- The Sporting News Warroom has a "Super 99" that is an updated Free Agency Ranking - it also includes FAs who were resigned to their team.
Andre Carter is listed as the 14th best FA in 2005, Darren Howard was listed as the 31st.
Dree Brees was 12th, Jamal Lewis was 13th. Robert Mathis was 29th, Jon Runyan was 30th.
If you don't think Carter has had a huge impact on the defense, rewatch the last 2 games and see how often the guy isn't double teamed. I'll tell you - never. He has been doubled or doubled plus a TE chip almost every down.

Yeah and Carter's injuries were weird cysts which would have happened if he played football or not - so they weren't really injuries per say, rather surgeries.
