What do you all think is the best Delivery Pizza? Also, has anyone ever heard of Vocelli?:dallasuck

There are two places down here that I consider the best I've ever had. One is "Frank's Pizza" and the other is "Michaelangelo's"(both are New York style pizza). As for the big pizza chains, I have to go with Pizza Hut . . . although Papa John's comes in a very close second because they give you that garlic sauce.

You have to go with the mom and pop style place with the pizza oven and hand tossed crust. Dominoes/Pizza Hut/Papa Johns all those type of chain places suck.

Papa Johns is good, there aren't a ton of great 'mom and pop' pizza places around here. Anyway, IMO, Dominos is first, followed by Papa Johns, then Pizza Hut. I haven't had some delivery pizza in a long time..

Yeah I was trying to get some delivery ideas, but Pizza Hut is terrible, Papa Johns is worse, and Dominos and Dominos, I think ill jsut go with the homemade spagetti

I don't know if they deliver, but me and Art were visiting the DC area a few years ago, and he bought me some Generous George's Pizza, and that was some of the best Pizza I ever had.

Of the national chains, Papa John's gets my vote.

But thankfully, I live in Chicago. We normally get Giordano's, the "Pizza Hut" of Chicago deep dish. But the best I've ever had was a little place in Wrigleyville called Tedino's. Even their small pizza weighs about 6 pounds. :D

There is a place in Catonsville I love called "Scittinos", it's really really good, they do both NY Style and Siciclian, both are really good.
For chain places, Ledos is really good.

Pizza Hut for nationally chained, but Pisanello's for local.

Domino's is just nasty. Pizza Hut is my choice if I have to go with a big chain.

Ledo's if you count small chain, especially the one in Adelphi.

I loved Casa Mia's when I lived in Baltimore as well.

Papa John's is pretty good for a national chain, but they don't seem to cook it long enough.

All 3 of the national chain pizza joints suck. They don' serve real pizza.

 That's why I always order a hoagie from Domino's. Their pizza is used for microwaved food after midnight.

Papa Johns

But when I go back to the D.C. Area I love Ledos!

I get hookups at Ledos and a place around here called pizza hotline(pizza isnt the best but it's free). Out of the large food chains it's def. Pizza Hut and Papa Johns, Dominos is horrible

A Pizza Place Called Ambrose Is My Fav. The Crust Is Kinda Crispy And The Cheese Is Perfect. Drives Me Nuts.

We usually get Pizza Hut every week, although I think I probably prefer Papa Johns, personally.

As far as pizza chains go, Vocelli is pretty darn good. I had it for the first time a few weeks ago. They have a few different kinds of crust, I had their NY style (that is not what it was called, but that was essentially what it was) and it was very good. Now i have one that just opened about 100 yards from my apartment...I have a feeling that I will order from there frequently.

Giordano's is great, but I would probably weigh a whole lot more if I had easy access to it. Thankfully, I am a couple hundred miles away.

Try Armands.

This may be what I'm thinking of, but there is a brick-oven place on the Hill that is friggin' outstanding. I want to say it starts with a B though...but I'm not sure. Bertucci's maybe? I don't know. Friggin' awesome pizza!

Ledo's is also good. But those of you who say Papa John's isn't good have obviously never had their "works" pizza. Friggin' awesome. But the best pizza I've ever had was at Due's (the sister store to the original Uno's in Chicago). Awesome. Simply awesome. :)

I have yet to find a good local place, but Vocelli's is good for my area. I don't think they are national, probably regional.

Armands is Chicago Deep Dish style.
Bertucci's is indeed brick oven style.

Major Chain has to be Pizza Hut. The pan pizza crust is so much better than any of the others.

Chains that dont deliver : Toss up between Bertucci's and Ledo's.

Local place : Brooklyn's.

Although there is a little spot in Adams Morgan that serves slices late night NY Style that are amazing. Slices so big you have to fold it twice.

I am not a fan of Papa Johns or the garlic sauce. Pizza isnt an appetizer that I dip into sauce or stadium food that I need to dress with condiments. And the 3 times that I have had Papa Johns the flavor was non-existent (guess thats why you need the sauce), and the crust was doughy or paper thin and tasteless.

the best are definately the mom and pop shops. Up here in Pa, you have a lot of options. I think there are 3-4 place with 2 miles of my house that all have really good pizza. Have any of you ever had a Stromboli? LIGHTS OUT!! A Steak stromboli is to die for, no kidding.

yeah Ive had Malek's...its solid.

Bertucci's is a sleeper...real good.

Late night drunk pizza bingefests often occur at Cappacino's in Georgetown....its money.

Dont have a "favorite" but just some preferences. The chain pizza's arent worth mentioning....although the stuffed crust at Pizza Hut (a glutton's special basically) is my calling card if i have to dial one up.

CYFAR - WOWWOOWOW u know about Manny & Olgas? I thought nobody knew....their pizza with Gyro on it is the absolutest.

There's supposed to be a Ledo's in Fairfax on 50 somewhere, but I can't find it. I'm hoping to find that they can save me from all the crappy chain pizza that is around Vienna/Fairfax. Anybody know where it is?

August-28th-2006, 12:31 PM
i am glad that fairfax now has a ledo's pizza. it was like a greasy heaven. the best part: my neighborhood surrounds the ledo's. there are entrances on either side of it.. if i was really desperate, i could walk.

Cannot stand these types of pizzas. Mostly rock hard crust with some
tomatoe sauce dribbled over it. I want my bastardized american style
pizzas with an inch of cheese and greasy sausage on it. Oh and can't
forget the pan pizza with the thick crust....mmmmm mmmmm

For Delivery...Papa John's
For Pick-up....Pizza Hut Pan Pizza

good news, i can tell you exactly where it is. i live in the neighborhood behind it. it is actually on 29. if you know where the costco is, go east from there, and you will come across a little shopping center on the right side of the road. and there it is.

Bertucci's is indeed brick oven style.

Maybe that's it. I went to a home poker game on the hill and they ordered from somewhere, and I can't remember the name. I just remember it was phenomenal pizza!!

Although there is a little spot in Adams Morgan that serves slices late night NY Style that are amazing. Slices so big you have to fold it twice.

Those type of places are always good because you're wasted. Any pizza when you are drunk = THE BOMB. I've eaten at that place in Adam's Morgan and although I don't remember the slices being super-huge, I remember them being good!!

CiCi's Pizza is really good. Don't think they're a national chain..but $5 for buffet and a drink, I'm there. They also have cinnamin rolls there..I had a dream about them last night :-\. They do deliver though, so I stayed on topic. :)

the pizza isn't amazing, but its practically free. i went to cici's one time, and i saw a fat guy walk up to the buffet, picked up the whole trey of brownies, and just walked out of the place with the trey full of brownies. after he waddled out of the store, he tried to run (in effect, just waddled a little faster) it was the funniest thing i've seen in a while.

i must say, i LOVED those cinnamin rolls. they were spectacular.

Vocelli is great. I used to have it delivered when I worked in Sterling.

The Ledo Pizza near me delivers, and it is heavenly.
