View Full Version : The Eagles Have Looked Better Than the Pukes In Preseason...

...yet their fans aren't on our board gushing with confidence (though, that may be a coincidence since WB has been banned... :D )

I still like Philly over the pukes this season...and the Eagles will, of course, come in second after us in the division.

The Eagles' #1s on offense and defense have looked good...much better than the pukes' #1s. And that's without Westbrook.

And considering the opposition the pukes have had, that's saying a lot.

Now, puke fans, wouldn't you say Philly's stellar showing in the off-season means a trip to the cellar for you?

In fact, the Raiders are ****ing undefeated!

C'mon Tr1, don't go bursting their bubble just yet. Remember this is the pre season and they are undefeated!

I'm just not following your logic here. By saying the Eagles look better than the Cowboys in the preseason, you are also stating that means they are better than the Cowboys. In addition, by the Redskins absolutely looking terrible, they are somehow going to win the division.

Now, I realize the Skins are getting the benefit of the doubt because they finished higher than the Cowboys and Eagles, but how did they surpass the Giants? How come the Cowboys don’t get credit for finishing ahead of the Eagles?

Why are the Cowboys not given a muligan for TO and Flo not participating this preseason?

These are the questions that come immediately to mind when I read your post.

Thanks for any info…

I think you got my point without realizing it...think about it.

Was your point that preseason is meaningless and everyone starts at 0-0 week 1?

I find it funny how tr1 can sit here and say that the eagles look better than us, and they will finish better than us based on preseason. Yet under his logic the preseason means nothing. So which is is tr1? Does it mean anything or not?

I'm guessing it won't because of where the skins stand right now.

The point is that none of the Eagles fans have derived any meaning from our sharp preseason. He's pointing out the fact that we understand the irrelevance of preseason while you don't, not that the Eagles are better than the Cowboys.

This is interesting considering "the preseason means nothing." So tr1, how would you rank how the skins #1's look along with the rest of the division? :munchout:

Actually the Eagles haven't looked too sharp to me from what I've seen. I watched the first half of the Pitt game and I can see why they made a move for Stallworth. Of course, Westbrook wasn't playing and the defense looks very good.

Who's chest beating? Where did you see that? Many Boys fans visit this site, namely The Around The NFL forum. Of course were going to discuss our game.

Your act is boring. Stop trying to flip things around on me/us when it's readily apparent that I'm telling the truth. I can quickly dig up a whole lot of posts that exemplify exactly what I'm talking about, but why should I bother when you're on here just as much as me and you've seen the exact same posts.

Okay, so we're talking about chest thumping about preseason? When have I done that? What the hell is wrong with you and watch your tone son? :) I don't answer to you! Say what you want to say and stop beating around it. What exactly do you take issue with? The fact that I don't like the redskins?

No. Mostly your disingenuous posts.

Watch my tone? Son? You're slowly becoming nothing more than a clown around here. Seriously.

Actually it just appears that way because Boys fans are just excited about Romo, positive signs in the preseason and just the upcoming season all together whereas you guys have spent all your time and energy explaining and reassuring yourselves that everything is o.k.. It all means nothing right now.

There are certainly a contingent of fans that gauge their moods on whether or not "their team" wins a preaseason game or not. We have them, you have them, Philly has them... etc...

The overwhelming majority of Cowboy fans I know, while happy we won, could really care less.

The optimism among Cowboy fans right now is the fact our first teamers are playing relatively well. Personally I could care less whether we win or lose a preseason game. I look for the positives and negatives that come with each contest. The defense looks strong. Pass protection is good and both QB's have played extremely well. The WR's have been well above average and our depth on defense is a boon.

On the flip side we aren't run-blocking consistently well. Our RB's show flashes, but that is obivously tied to the performance of the OL. Our kicking game is in disarray and we are also lacking depth at some key positions on the offense.

Gaining a victory in preseason is neither here nor there. If we lose, that's fine as long as we showed some flashes. If we win, great, as long as we have shown some good things.

To say that some Cowboys fans are the only ones that place any importance on preseason records would be just plain incorrect. You only have to look at your own board to see the some of the suicidal threads after a Redskin preseason loss.

The bottom line is that in two weeks we all start at 0-0. Preseason games are important in that it gives the teams an opportunity to work on some things for the upcoming season and a chance to evaluate talent, but that is all.

Sure we would RATHER win a preseason game if given a choice, but it matters not in the grand scheme.

Dallas may have looked better but c'mon...the Eagles are going to be solid, maybe not great but they dont have to be.....

Eagles will likely start off the year 5-1 or better.

Their schedule is a joke:

At Hou - Eagles smash
vs. NYG - Eagles should be able to beat Eli & company at the Linc
At SF - gee i wonder if they'll win
vs. GB - another no brainer (4-0 or 3-1 at the very least)
vs. Dal - toss up but i would take Philly at home in the "Me-O Bowl" in a close game (5-0 or 4-1).
at N.O - Saints would have to play the game of their lives to win even at home (6-0 or 5-1).

The first game that looks like it could be a real struggle would be on the road At Tampa Bay week 7. But even if the Eagles lose they will be 6-1 or 5-2 AT WORST. Then have Jack at home, a bye, then us.

Weeks 1-6 are a cake walk overall. No more than 1 loss for them puts them right in the thick of things.

I agree... the Eagles have the most favorable schedule this year in the NFC East. They should get off to a quick start. Like last year, injuries or lack of will determine their season.

If they are any worse than 5-2, though, they should be ashamed.

If they stay remotely healthy...Donovan and no MAJOR injuries then this team will be back in business. Everyone is talking about the Redskins, Cowboys and Giants....Eagles really have everything catered to them due to the last place finish last year.

The make or break point is when they play at Indy, Carolina, at Redskins, at NYG and at Dallas in succesive weeks WOW is that brutal.

If they can pad their record prior to that murderers row of 5 teams (4 on road) then they will survive.

I didnt realize how unbalanced their schedule was until today.
